Do you guys honestly suddenly hate Stanford because they aren’t releasing decisions 8 days before they said they would? Yes, they usually release it the Friday before the 15th, but that is the 14th this year. It was the 9th last year, but the date can’t continue getting earlier and earlier. They need time to calculate financial aid packages and finalize admissions decisions–give them some time. A week won’t kill you and it shouldn’t change your impression of what is an amazing school.

To those questioning Stanford’s greatness, it is interesting to note that Stanford consistently receives more REA/ED applications than any peer institution, indicating it is the most popular top choice. Stanford is awesome on so many levels that they can afford to be more picky and ‘arrogant’, although this ordeal is ridiculous and they should just tell us the real release date!

Yes we hate Stanford. Is that so hard to understand? damn

Guys, they are just letting off steam. Relax.

Stanford…sigh

All of this has taught me one thing though: working at Stanford Admissions would be so much fun :P

@SAT yeah i meant stanford wasnt comparable to harvard 15 years ago. it is slightly overrated IMO. the only reason its respected so much is that its near silicon valley so a lot of its grads 15 years ago became successful. the surrounding area isnt even that nice, harvards in a big city. im just using harvard as an example, there are tons of other schools. stanford acts like its an honor that theyre even letting us apply. palo alto and the surrounding area are boring, and the school feels somewhat like a prison. at northwestern or vanderbilt or even lsu (all of which im aplying to), theyre is more to do. stanford had some successful graduates, but theyre getting too proud, and not in a good way. when you call them asking about admissions or the app, i’ve always gotten rude answers and felt like i was annoying them. the ivy league schools were so nice and felt like they appreciated my interest. too bad i’ve spent a month waiting for this decision and they now say theyre releasing it the 15th (even when the legacy letter said the 14th)…and why do legacies get special treatment? they have a much higher rate of getting in, which is re**tarded. just tell us its on tuesday, its not like CNN cares so much that theyre doing a news segment about when stanford is releasing results, so its not like top secret information (even though stanford likes thinking it is)

again, feel free to disagree…just my thoughts

stantheman66: “sorry stanford, you weren’t even very relevant until like 15 years ago.”

I don’t know how you define relevant, but a member of Stanford’s very first graduating class went on to become President of the United States! Ever used a laser or microwave? The technology was invented at Stanford. Ever heard of a couple guys named Hewlett and Packard? How about Steinbeck? It’s true that the founders of Yahoo and Google, as well as the chief software developer for OSX and the iPhone all graduated in the 90s, but the school had its fair share of success before then too.

And I’ve studied at both Stanford and Harvard and between the two found Stanford to be significantly less elitist. The fact that Stanford’s admissions officers are willing to invest the time to read more material than Harvard’s would seem to confirm that.

That said, I understand your frustration with the notification process.

So I guess there is some special insider information that sets Tuesday as the day…right.

Sent from my MB865 using CC

It seems like stantheman and SocalPapa have had quite the different experiences with Stanford. Although I don’t doubt the veracity of your logic Socal, I am inclined to side with Stan the MAN on this one. What a badass response, ‘like a prison’ lolol

Remember the good ol’ days when stantheman joked about applying to Stratford?

Hehe. That was you, right?

To all the people upset about the wait for decisions, what would you do if you got deferred :p? Keep your heads up guys!

For some reason I’m still hoping for today… I’m hoping that they’re just announcing the fact that it’s going to be released today a little later than usually.

A boy can dream :]

@stantheman66: I understand your frustration, but I think you are getting a bit irrational here. “Stanford” in itself isn’t a cognizant entity that tells you that he or she is better than you. “stanford acts like its an honor that theyre even letting us apply.” Who is Stanford? Is it the dean? The admissions officers? It’s been like this every year and honestly, we can’t even be sure whether or not they’re doing this on purpose or not. Just relax, the decisions will be out eventually.

I wouldnt mind being deffered at all…

Well now its time to hope for tuesday… fingers crossed!!!

to all freaking out about admissions if they tell us today it will be at roughly 6:30 eastern time dont fret

@NotSoProdigious
Stanford is a malevolent creature. A slime.

The Tuesday prediction comes from post 1367 (see also 1371 and 1375). No way to know if that’s accurate. I think everyone else is just repeating that prediction.

insider sources say it could STILL be today.

Txcact - what sources??
