[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:Strong coursework, despite being a junior, I believe that my test scores/coursework rivals many seniors[/ul]General Comments:
I AM SO EXCITED. ahem. back to serious talk. I am simply happy. I feel as though I’ve accomplished the first of many steps towards my lifetime goal of making a difference. While my initial goal was simply a good school, and not particularly stanford, I have now come to adore stanford and look forward to going. I am glad I took the risk of applying as a junior I only applied to MIT and Stanford: Defered-> Rejected from MIT, I would have another year to apply if I wasn’t accepted by either because as senior year I would have lack sufficiently challenging courses.

If you are gonna read nothing else, read this
To everybody who applied, to everybody who was accepted, to everybody who was rejected, to everybody who was waitlisted: congratulations. Simply by applying to Stanford, you have shown passion and drive, and that is what makes a success: not the college, but the person themselves. Continue with your passion and your motivation, and you will succeed in life.

Decision: Waitlisted

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I (breakdown): 2350 (800 V, 750 M, 800 W 12 essay)
[] SAT II: 800 Bio E, 770 Math IIC, 800 US History
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 1/520
[] AP (place score in parenthesis): 5’s Biology, Calculus AB, English Language, Environmental Science, Spanish Language, US History, World History
[] Senior Year Course Load: AP English Literature, AP European History, AP Macroeconomics, AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Psychology, AP Statistics, AP US Government, Yearbook Production
[] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): State academic bowls, regional writing awards, publishing poems and essays[/ul]

Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Yearbook (copy editor), academic bowl (MVP), service club (secretary), math club (secretary), lit mag (editor)
[] Job/Work Experience: None. I did get paid for some freelance writing stuff, lol.
[] Volunteer/Community service: Public library, local schools and parks
[] Summer Activities: Local newspaper internship, TASP
[] Essays: Common App essay: Stream-of-consciousness narrative with embedded song lyrics about calling Beijing Christmas morning to talk to my relatives. Stanford short answers: Eh, pretentious. I incorporated lots of detailed information about the school to showcase my interest, lol.
[] Teacher Recommendation: Good?
[] Counselor Rec: Good but generic.
[] Interview: None. Pity. If it weren’t for that Harvard waitlisting, I’d be able to say that I get everything I ever interview for, lol.[/ul]

Other[ul]
[] State (if domestic applicant): TX
[] School Type: Large suburban public. For some reason, hordes apply to Stanford every year, and I don’t think anyone’s ever gotten in.
[] Ethnicity: East Asian
[] Gender: F
[] Income Bracket: Upper-middle class.
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): TASP?[/ul]

Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: TASP, no major failings.
[] Weaknesses: Nothing really stands out.
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: It’s gotta be this economy. Any other year, I would’ve been rejected, lol.[/ul]
[/li]

General Comments:
I’m actually honored to be waitlisted-- especially since Stanford seems to hate my school. Also waitlisted at Harvard and Columbia, rejected at MIT, and accepted at Brown, Cornell, UChicago, and Yale.
