I’m so nervous!! I have no idea what Swat is looking for, but I’ve wanted to get into Swat for an awfully long time! Ever since I first heard about Swat, which was nearly 4 years ago.
is there a groupme for swarthmore yet?
@voltthorn
Did you apply ED?
@Shabeezy Nope, decided not to apply ED anywhere.
I recall hearing that Swat was planning to expand a bit. They have a new dorm opening in the fall that will house ~300 students. I would expect more acceptances.
A Swat dorm with 300 students would be massive in comparison to other dorms on campus. This article says it is 121 students: http://swarthmorephoenix.com/2016/02/03/new-suite-style-dorms-to-be-built-for-2017/
@donnaleighg… i sit corrected…thanks.
Regarding the 2 supplemental essays…I believe it was in place for the class of 2018, and removed the year after.
The 9,400 apps feels like a surprisingly large increase? Over 20% ?
@EyeVeee 20% increase is a lot, but that seems to be close to the right figure. I think that because the new housing allows for more students to be admitted, a 20% increase in applicants will keep the acceptance rate figure close to the same as last year’s.
Yikes it’s getting really close to decisions. This is the one school that things are really up in the air for me, it seems that finding admissions stats are more difficult for Swat was opposed to other schools I applied to.
@amwarren Yeah, I applied bc I literally had no idea where I would be on the applicant scale. So anxious for Friday…
I am in same boat as @lizardlady123 I dot know where I’ll fall and I hope for increased number of acceptances with lower yield this year. My gpa is what drags me down as it impovrved over time but wasn’t great originally
Who else here interviewed?
I didn’t interview. I never saw the chance to :////
@amwarren do you know if swat interviews are actually important cause at schools like tufts and washu they have little effect
@amwarren do you know if swat interviews are actually important cause at schools like tufts and washu they have little effect
@jkgreen27 i’m not sure…I only know one person that goes there and he was admitted for a sport, so I don’t think an interview would’ve swayed his decision…let me look around the interwebs and see what other people say
It kind of seems that it’s a toss up. I was reading this one thread where someone did interviews for a few schools and thought they went really well, and even had confirmation from one of the interviews that he wrote a glowing review, however didn’t get into those schools…however they didn’t interview with Swat and got in.
My impression is it can’t hurt and the helping of it depends on how borderlind you are and the stance of your interviewer
Yikes. I’m so worried about tomorrow just because I have absolutely NO clue how it’s gonna go. Does anyone have any resources for average accepted?
The problem with schools like Swat is that there are kids with 28ACTS admitted and those with 36 not, those with 3.5 gpas admitted and those with 4.0 not. Its really hard to determine
