Damn math prerequisites. Oh well I guess I kinda need the extra time to build my terrible math skills. I guess this could be a support group for those of us who are doomed to stay at CC for another year. What are your guys' majors/ccs/gpas? I go to IVC/econ major/4.0 gpa. Second semester so far and my first choice is UCLA.

Does it look worse if it takes someone 3 years to transfer in a major that usually takes 2 years? For example: I know most transfer applicants finish requirements to transfer within 2 years at CCC but bio majors usually take 3.

i wouldnt think it would. 1 year transfers dont get an advantage over 2 years. so why would 3 years be at any disadvantage :)

@ Cupertino: Dainese is right. It doesn’t matter how long it takes you to transfer. It’s completely irrelevant.

@ DudeManGuy: Nice GPA! Keep it up!

It will have taken me 2.5 years to transfer at the end of this semester.

@emilssinclair thanks…I’ll have to work a lot harder at keepin it up when I take Calculus and stuff though…hopefully I’ll be prepared for it lol

Which UCs accept Spring transfers?

I’m not sure if any do actually. I know for a fact that UCLA, UCB, and Davis do not. I’m not entirely sure about the others :/.

IVC all the way

you in 3B right now?

3B? Calculus 2? Haha nooooo…I’m in intermediate algebra…

Oh well keep that GPA up and I would recommend you take Gupta for calculus, he has a good policy and teaches extremely well.

Join the Honors Program too, TAP is always a nice addition as well as the opportunity to do research and win awards at the Honors Transfer Council Conference. And take mcneil for honors economics, he is chill and the test are out of the book and lecture.

Hey, can TAP be completed by only doing arts/humanities and social science honors classes? I think an honors math class might be a bit much for me but I think I could hold my own in honors humanities/social science/English…

^ some CCC’s allow some high units classes to be considered as honors. For example El Camino allows 2 from General Chem, Organic Chem, Calculus, etc to be fulfill honors courses for tap.

I would recommend sticking to the honors humanities at IVC, social sciences too.

Just pop me a message of you have questions about IVC profs or pop by the honors lounge, I’m a skinny white guy…I stand out a little hahahahaha

@emilsinclair9 Well 1 year transfers are different. Universities still look at their high school records. Also 1 years don’t transfer to universities with junior standing. 2-3 years do. If I were an admissions officer, I would say the person who took 2 years to complete all requirements to transfer as a junior had a more rigorous workload compared to one who took fewer classes spaced out, spanning 3-4 years.

uh… i think what they meant is if you took one year to complete all 60 units, which WOULD make you junior standing.

Unless I’m not seeing something.

@cupertinotransfr
I am 1 year transfer and I got accepted at UC as junior standing. Also UCsdon’t look at your high school record even for 1 year transfer.
However,some counselors told me that 1 year transfers are at disadvantage because by the time UCs accept a 1 year transfer, he/she still has like 20 units or more left to complete.it’s a gamble for admission!
@Dudemanguy
Most counselors would encourage you to take time and stay at cc for like 2-3 years. I know many people at my cc who stay like 5 years there and got accepted into ucla/ucb.
So you don’t have to worry at all:) just keep ur perfect gpa!

Yeah, absurdmike and nyc_dream are right. 1 year transfers can attain junior level standing. The ones who try to transfer without having 60 units done or IP are automatically rejected. Thus, it doesn’t matter how long it takes you. What matters is that you have 60 units done for eligibility.

LASERS!!! WOOT WOOT

just got my acceptance to UCI for Bus Admin

3 year transfer

IVC LASERS!!!

Congrats, too bad we can have CC wars to show that IVC is the best.

Did you apply to UCLA too?

Lol more ivc ppl on this site than I thought. Has anyone ever had Prof Chambers? For sociology?

Nah, can’t say I have, sorry man.
