***Official Thread for 2015 BSMD applicants***

Thanks guys… my information come from MSAR and BS/MD Programs: The Complete Guide by Todd Johnson.

anyone else’s application status for penn state still the same? mine still says “We are reviewing your credentials for the Accelerated Premedical-Medical program. A decision will be available here as soon as one is made.”

@danceprincess124‌ My D has the same status as yours so far. I assume she is out of the further consideration for the program.

I called them. They said my application has not been reviewed. I would not say we are out

@ramchand did they say when applications would be reviewed by?

@onlythebest13‌ @Midhelper‌
Great answers so far! Yes- shadowing would definitely help you understand what the profession of Medicine is all about and thats crucial during application season. I’d volunteer and shadow without a doubt! It’s not necessary but the more experiences you have to prove why you want to be in medicine, the better.

@emaanakmal‌ –> Yes, my sister is in that program so you can become whatever kind of doctor you want to be! It’s focused on primary care, and you sign a contract that you’ll continue primary care…BUT you are allowed to break that and become a surgeon (at the cost of around $75,000).

For those that are confused about a lot of these aspects, I’ve found most of my information on this website and they’re pretty good about responding back with personal questions I’ve had throughout the process:
http://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/

I’ve been invited to 3 interviews so far, so am excited to see how it goes! I’ll keep you in the loop!

My Drexel portal says

Drexel University is pleased to offer you admission. An official decision letter has been sent to you by mail.

We are also pleased to offer you admission to the Honors Program in the Pennoni Honors College.

A decision regarding the accelerated program to which you have applied will be made at a later date.

Should I be worried that they haven’t decided about the program???
I’m kinda nervous!

@faymer no i don’t think so!! i got the same thing they probably just need more time to review the program application. also they have to do interviews for it

does anyone has problem on upload the supplement into villanova. It says the system is under maintain ace. but I have supplemental due today. can anyone tell me what to do?

Villanova supplement was uploaded today morning and there was no problem. I see this message now:

“Thank you for submitting your Health Science Medical Affiliate Program supplement application for Drexel University. We will be contacting you regarding your status”

they just fixed it. such a release. sm577501, thanks for your post.

On PennSt: I see some have recd interviews and others are not. My S’s status does say something like this “we will let you the SOM status by late January”. May be I am thinking, only in-state kids are invited for interview?

Only those invited kids will know whether they are in-state or not. They could respond indicating whether my guess is correct or not. Thank you.

@parentofs I am not in-state and received the interview, but some of my friends at school are in the same position as you.

@in2llect : Thank you. Then my S may be put in the waiting list. PennState may be diplomatically saying “We will let you know by late January…”. Again I am assuming. What else could be the scenario?

@parentofs: We (OOS) are still seeing this - “We are reviewing your credentials for the Accelerated Premedical-Medical program. A decision will be available here as soon as one is made.”

Looks like many diff status versions are there. Below is how exactly ours says:

We will update you by late January about the status of your application to the Accelerated Premedical-Medical Program offered in cooperation with Jefferson Medical College. If you are not selected for this specific program within the Penn State Eberly College of Science, we will certainly consider you for general admission to the Eberly College of Science.

I just called them. They said we will hear anytime between January and March :)

Before March???. Wow. Only 3 more months.

Anyone get an email notification from UMKC?

@faymer when did you apply? and are you in-state? mine still says that they are processing/reviewing my application. do you know when we should hear about interviews? Drexel/Drexel is the only one in that region that I applied to, super nervous! @danceprincess124‌
