***Official Thread for 2015 BSMD applicants***

@innocentwanderer‌ omg I completely missed the word limit and my essays combined were definitely over 1000 words. do you think they’ll still consider me?

Have anybody from the second wave of umkc applications heard any news yet?

One of my son’s friend got a rejection email from GWU/GWU program today

My son did not hear anything from GWU. Hopefully GWU will be sending out more supplement emails. Keeping fingers crossed. Congratulations to all those who received the supplement.

Also for UPitt GAP second essay, do any of you know the essay word limit. Please let us know if you are aware of the word limit.

Thank you.

@bsmdcan‌ I think its 250 words. (It says it in the FAQ section)

Is there a current list of which BS/MD programs require MCAT and their cutoff for progression into Medical school. I am told that MCAT is changing in 2015 with test length doubling & new sections in natural sciences, verbal reasoning etc. Also, the scale is changing.

@chihuahua1‌ I have not heard back from GWU either. I applied to GWU/GWU.

Has anyone still not received the RPI/AMC supplement?

I applied to RPI and havent heard back either. Siena as well. Did anyone hear back from rpi or siena?

@shyamalee Many students don’t receive RPI/AMC supplements until Feb… You need to be patient with AMC programs. Good luck!

@bsmdcan‌ the recommended word limit is 250.

@ddrew97‌ which other programs are you applying to?

Has anyone heard back from REMS?

@upstream Thank you!

@Driveme , according to REMS website they will inform in Jan for interviews to be held from Feb 26 - 28.

Has your application (on myROC) gone through 5 steps.

For my D it is at step 3 for sometime now.

@Me4college‌
I’m at step 4 right now. Did you submit the recommended writing sample? I didn’t but now I wonder if I should have.

I applied to REMS but how do i know wat step i am in? Like i just submitted the app on common app and thats it. I havent heard back ever since.

No @Deriveme my D did not submit any writing sample. Since it was not even flagged as highly recommended.

Do one has to complete step 5 too before any interview call? or once you complete step 4 then you get the interview call, if selected? ah … so many questions!

@chihuahua1 link to myROC is:

http://enrollment.rochester.edu/myroc/

maybe you can try to create an account there.

@deriveme I am applying to PSU/Jeff, Miami HPME, Univ of Kentucky, GWU/GWU (got the supp essay email), Drexel/Drexel, Pitt GAP, RPI/AMC, NWU/HPME and BU SMED. No word from Drexel, BU and RPI on the Med School interviews. I have interviews scheduled at PSU, Miami and UK. Submitted supps for the rest.

Hey everyone! I have a quick question:
I made it to the next stage for the NJIT and SBU/GW programs, but which one would be considered more prestigious? Pros/cons of each? I know that GW has a wonderful med school, with a strong emphasis on global health, so I’m leaning towards SBU. However, SBU seems like a small school and the location is really not ideal.

Also, sorry if this is random but if I got into a prestigious undergrad school would doing the traditional route to med school be better than a program? I am faced with this dilemma currently, and am driving myself crazy deciding! I am very inclined towards programs, but I’m just not sure about spending 3 years at Newark (NJIT) or at a school like St. Bonaventure! Thoughts? Thank you so much in advance!
Btw I love this thread, very informative!
