Hello all - I am starting a chain for those who are Junior in High school and will be applying to College of NEOMED (BS/MD program ) in Aug / Sept of 2015.
Anyone out there, who got selected into NEOMED and is starting classes in June 2015 are also welcomed to provide tips or share their experiences.
How hard, compared to other BS/MD programs, is this one to get in? I am trying to finalize how many BS/MD programs to apply for.
Website says 32 ACT 3.8 GPA was the average for admitted students
so not that bad compared to some bs md i guess
@ jhgong - Also remember that they prefer In state candidates.
Current Seniors and NEOMED applicants / prospects - Have you started applying yet ?
Anyone happen to know how many applications they received this year? I’m thinking someone may have just asked or happened to get that info offhandedly.
And does anyone know if this is the 1st year they’ve ever used one deadline date for everyone?
There’s just so little info or chatter about this program out there compared to almost anywhere else.
@jumbletumbles , thanks for sending this link. I’ll follow this one.
Finally some action on this thread. :)>-
@jumbletumbles & @Pras2016 - I had visited NEOMED in Spring 2015. I remember the rep presenting the program details had mentioned that they are giving away with 2 dates, early action and regular and going with just 1 date (which I found kind of silly because students who apply early should get the 1st preference with the review of their forms, as I feel). She did mention some dates which were a bit delayed dates that their usual dates.
Have you applied ? I think we need to keep this post going incase other people out there are also looking for recent discussions.
I learnt that the two possible interview dates could be: Jan 30th 2016 / Feb 28th 2016. Now if we back track those dates with invitation for interview, then I would expect the interview letters to be received by applicants by early Jan.
Yes, my son also applied.
To be honest, I’m actually rather surprised their timeline for decision is so drawn out considering there’s just one application deadline now. If interviews are in Jan & Feb, it seems like a very long time for deliberations & for them to wait until mid-April to announce decisions. Doesn’t it?
@jumbletumbles - I agree. I must say clear communication has been rather sparse. If they really do end up taking until mid-April, then it will be too late for us. If the application submission deadlines are so early then they should rebound with replies early too. Frustrating. Not to mention how they do everything with mail /snail mail…in the era of emails / electronic notification. They probably find it easier to print the letters and stick stamps versus invest in their application technology.
On that same note, applied to UNC as well, deadline was Oct15th for EA (yeah I know entire world’s EA is Nov1st, expect UNC) . Called them to find out how they were trending. They said if you applied by 1st deadline, we will send replies by Jan end….seriously Jan end …that’s when we need to start looking at finances / affordability and dorms ……
I just got off the phone and heard the confirmed dates are : Jan 30th / Feb21st. Spoke to an individual at Kent.
@dreamed Did you happen to verify about admission decision notification date too?
@jumbletumbles - You betcha, I raised that question twice and both times their answer was - We do not have a defined date yet, But maybe that date will be provided to you at the time of interview.
If anyone else hears of a date for admission decision notification feel free to post.
@jumbletumbles & @Pras2016 - Consortium universities stated that the interview admission letters will be mailed out the 3rd Friday of Dec. [-O<
Considering how much mail there is in general in December & the fact that the week before Christmas is the worst, I must say, horrible timing on their part for snail mail notifications. I wonder how many people will get invitations lost in the holiday mail & delivery burden this year. I’m fully expecting to not get a letter (regardless of interview status) since we rarely seem to get important stuff actually delivered to our mailbox! Lol. Our snail mail is constantly mis-delivered.
2 Christmases ago, we had a 4 digit amount check delivered across town to a completely wrong address despite the one on the envelope being correct.
