***Official Thread for 2015 BSMD applicants***

D was rejected from VCU through email.

@co88dad‌ I believe there is only one interview date for Penn State.

Rejected from VCU via email.

Does anyone know how many applicants are forwarded/interviewed/accepted for Drew/NJMS?

My D Got rejects from VCU by email, UAB EMSAP by snail mail. Siena/Albany by snail mail, Waiting for UMKC… applied Nov 1 OOS. UCONN OOS. Union/AMC, Drexel/Drexel, Rosemont/Drexel, GWU/GWU.

Just received the applicant portal information for Brown and request to submit $150 Drexel fee. I applied to Lehigh and Villanova, but the email doesn’t make it clear which program the fee is for.

So just to clarify, if my Penn State portal says “We are reviewing your credentials for the Accelerated Premedical-Medical program. A decision will be available here as soon as one is made.” is that good?

@danceprincess124‌ it means that you’re still in the running.

People applying to UConn, would you mind pming me your stats and when you applied?

@Veritas13‌ The $150 is for Drexel Med School and for all the UGs you applied to that have a program with it. For me, thats Drexel, Villanova, and Monmouth

My D got a reject from Duquesne/Temple BA MD.

@in2llect thanks … my D is still waiting for a formal interview call from Penn State/Jefferson.

^^^ It is a single fee but it does not really mean that every school you applied has passed you onto the med school. If someone applies to 5 schools, only one could have picked the candidate to be submitted.

@thalamus
I should have been more specific. I meant that I don’t know which school decided to forward my supplement on to Drexel.

@bamd2014‌
Are you OOS for the Duquesne/Temple program? I was going to apply there but the two interview process (one with Duquesne PMHPP and one with Temple Medical School) was really inconvenient for me because I’m OOS.

Oh also for everyone who was wondering- I had my Stevens interview today and asked her exactly how the program works. So right now, they accept about 25-30 students into the program, but they are NOT guaranteed a spot at Rutgers Med. They all get to finish the pre-med requirements in three years, but after the 3 years are up, only about 3-5 will be accepted by Rutgers. The others will have to apply out. The advantage to this I guess is that they still get to complete the requirements in three instead of four years.

@danceprincess124‌ :0 I had my interview last week and i was told it was absolutely guaranteed!

@jb9832 oh really? That’s so weird! I mean, I confirmed a few times and even told her I had thought it was completely guaranteed but she seemed to know what she was talking about. I know the name of the guy in charge of admissions for the program if you want to shoot him an email or call him or something just to confirm

@danceprincess124‌
@jb9832‌
Technically no program is “guaranteed”, much less “absolutely guaranteed.” In every program you need to maintain an acceptable GPA and/or MCAT anyway. Also I would be a little suspicious of the person who told you that the program is “absolutely guaranteed.” I’ve talked with some BSMD admissions people and they very rarely use the word “guarantee” in describing their program because of the aforementioned undergraduate requirements. I would just email the committee and ask them directly how many people, of those who were accepted into the program, matriculate into that specific medical school.

@veritas13 @danceprincess124‌ I was pretty shocked too, as I asked my interviewer several times throughout the conversation. I think a few other people on here also got the answer that it wasn’t “guaranteed.” He said it was definitely a guaranteed program, should you maintain a GPA of 3 or something i don’t remember the specific. I’m pretty confused now. And yeah, I guess I can send the guy an email. What is it?
