***Official Thread for 2015 BSMD applicants***

BU so troll. I’m sitting at the airport right now lol

@AcceptMeOrNot‌
I have two upcoming interviews on the east coast (not BU though). I’m hoping that they aren’t canceled :neutral_face:

Has anyone heard back from Caldwell?

@jb9832‌ yes I already had my interview with Rutgers. They mentioned about 40 people are getting interviews and their were only 8 candidates when I went so maybe you will get an interview later :slight_smile:
Also thanks for the advice I will contact TCNJ tomorrow!

@ARG123‌ hopefully I will! I haven’t really heard much from them other than my merit scholarship! Lol and good luck with TCNJ!

Did anyone hear about interviews from Pitt GAP or Case?

Hello, I was just wondering, do BSMD programs have a waitlist process or not?

@shyamalee did u get GWU notification email in Jan before you got the reject email today? We didn’t get either. Just want to see reject email and move on honestly…

@shyamalee this is for our D.

@ARG123, Thanks for sharing your email with us. My son never got a phone call for the first on campus interview. However, Rutgers’ initial email mentioned that this process of initial interview can go up until mid march.

I got the interview for South Alabama EAP. Does anyone know anything about this program? There’s not much on the internet.

Does anyone know how much longer BU SMED is giving out interviews for? Starting to get a little nervous…

@Dildil‌ The dean mentioned that there were about 40 students chosen for interviews. There were 8 students on my interview date so that leaves about 30 spots. Good luck :slight_smile:

Hi everyone, I was an applicant last year, and I’m just checking in on this year’s thread. I’m attending Penn State’s program right now, feel free to ask me any questions.

@anandhini‌ @chasingmymd1‌ @peanut7‌ In terms of the BU interview, I had a few friends get into the program even though they received an interview notification after my interview was already over (I interviewed on Jan 31st last year). They really do stagger the notifications. I don’t think it has much correlation to your ‘rank.’

@in2llect‌ I didn’t have to send second semester senior grades anywhere. Since the applications are due so early for programs, most schools don’t worry about it.

@medicaldreamer99‌ Most do not have waitlists. The only waitlist that I’m aware of is Brooklyn/Downstate. Though I’m sure there are a few others.

This time last year was honestly the final stretch. I know there’s a lot of ups and downs through this process, but just remember that a rejection isn’t failure. I know everyone tells you this, but honestly everything works out the way it needs to in the end. This process is so difficult and random, so don’t let rejections get you down (as hard as it is). You can all get through this and you will all succeed. You are some of the brightest, most hardworking students in the country. I can’t believe it’s already been a year since my first interview; yours will all fly by. Best of luck to everyone :smiley:

@starlight27‌ just throwing it out there that SBU/GW or I guess in that sense GW in general waitlists as well. For example for the SBU/GW program the accept anywhere between 10-15 students with the intent of filling 10 seats, but if less than 10 take the offer, they pull from a “waitlist”. I know of a few other programs that follow this system as well.

@starlight27 congrats on being in the BS/MD program at Penn State/Jefferson. My D is interviewing at Jefferson on Feb. 11th. How do you like the program so far? Any interaction with Jefferson in your first year considering you are 4-5 hrs away? And could you share what your interview at Jefferson was like?

@FalconN10‌ Thanks for the additional info!

@co88dad‌ Thank you! I love the program so much. The other students in the program are all amazing, and Penn State itself is great. If I had to choose a negative, I would say the main negative is that class sizes are pretty large, especially since we have to take several lecture science classes. Also, I chose the program because it was a 6-year (I probably would have gone to BU otherwise), but I don’t think I would have minded an extra year here if I were a seven year. There are so many interesting classes to take and the atmosphere is wonderful. We don’t have much interaction with Jefferson at all; I don’t think I’ll step foot on the med school campus until we actually go there in a year and a half. The interview at Jefferson was great. They do a lot to try to make it feel low key, and honestly they just want to get a feel for your personality, rather than your ECs and grades (they already have your app for that). My student interview was really laid back. I think they just have to report on whether or not they would like if you were one of their future colleagues. My faculty interviewer and I didn’t talk about my application once. It was just a normal conversation that carried itself from health care to feminism and I think the only real question she asked me was why I wanted to rush my education (I was asked this in several interviews… I suggest having an answer to why you’re looking at accelerated programs). Good luck to your daughter!

Edit: to everyone worrying about BU-- Last year when I called, they told me it was completely rolling. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/16865993#Comment_16865993

@starlight27
Do you have any advice for the HPME interview?

Anyone who got the HPME inteview- just wondering when you logon to your HPME portal when does it say your application was exported (click view/edit) and when did you get your interview notification?

Anyone else receive notification of an interview with Drexel College of Medicine via Lehigh last night?
