***Official Thread for 2015 BSMD applicants***

Not last year…MMI was used for the regular med school interviews but not the Physician Scientist Program (they call it PSP). Cincinnati is the one that uses MMI, again that’s last year.

Have been following this thread on and off, best of luck to everyone!

@SLCMom - do you have any information on how the Northwestern HPME interviews are like? My son is going next week and I was wondering if you have any information. Thank you!

First, congrats! That’s fantastic. My daughter did not get an interview there, sorry I don’t have specific information. From following the forum last year I got the impression that they look for leaders, outgoing personality, go-getters, multi-category top performers. Throwing this out so people who actually WENT for the interviews would be provoked to comment! Best of luck to your son.

@GoodDoctor, sorry for the delay. Here’s the comment from someone who had the interview last year and is currently in REMS.
“There are two individual interviews and one group interview.
The questions that are asked depend on lot on who is interviewing you since they they don’t have a set list of questions.
For me, the individual interview questions were pretty basic and are questions you would expect to be asked, like: tell me about yourself, why you want to be a doctor etc. Personally, they did not ask me about research.
The group interviews varied a lot depending on the interviewer and tended to be less medicine-based. For example, my group interview was more of a Q&A session about the REMS program and Rochester in general. One interviewer always asks hard, open-ended questions like “What is justice?” And another group talked about feminism and Beyoncé. Overall, the interviews were not that bad or stressful.
Most interviewers just want to see how comfortable and confident you are in the situation, and how well you can articulate your viewpoint. Be yourself.
Hope that helped.”

Dr. Nobay and her staff do a really good job taking care of the students and parents during the REMS weekend. They sincerely care.
Good luck, and if you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

@starwatch‌

Do you feel the research part was essential because I have some too… and I guess yea that’s the point of the program. But how 'bout GPA,standardized scores and academically wise. :bz

For people wondering about Pitt GAP, I called today and they said that notifications will come out by February 17th. This is different than what they said before about the second week of february, so I would double check with them.
