Accepted to Siena !
Exciting times as the 3 to 4 weeks of RD college admissions “decisions” (inclusive of LL’s and combined programs) started to rollout already… GL to all!
Though this forum is for BS/MD, thought of providing this update.
Today UC Santa Barbara had Chancellor’s Reception event in San Jose, CA. Huge turn out (on a rainy day) and the Chancellor speech was very effective and genuine. The key point to note. UCSB by design focus only on UG though it is a research institution so that UG get opportunity for research. (87% of students UG). They surprised by informing whomsoever invited for this event are admitted.
Will the UR REMS admission decisions come out via portal , email or regular mail?
Are the majority here absolutely taking a BSMD offer and only considering UG-only acceptances as a back up option if no BSMD option is offered?
Are there any BSMD applicants (or parents of an applicant) here that are seriously considering taking the traditional route via an UG school they’ve also been accepted to? If also seriously considering traditional route, weighing all acceptances side by side, what factors are high on your list of considerations being taken into account?
ETA: I guess my ultimate question is what would compel you or your child to turn down an offer to a BSMD program in favor of taking a spot at a traditional UG & then pursuing the traditional path at this point in the process?
anyone know when drexel is getting back to applicants
around second week of april @sonpat
@sonpat In your assessment and your priority criteria, do you rank Drexel higher than PSU BS/MD program, knowing Drexel has very high tuition and does not offer generous aid? Just trying to understand different view points and what is critical from individual point of view, knowing you have already got the acceptance for PSU/Jefferson. Thanks.
@jumbletumbles Very good discussion point. I was deferring that conversation with my D and also with the forum until dust settles down (another 4-5 weeks). Though we got only very few interviews for BS/MD, happy it was in person interview so that we could get a feel for the college and the place though it is just few hours or a day max. Because, it made my D to think twice (and also for me) does she need to choose BS/MD so badly or challenge herself to have the determination and focus for another 4 years and get in to better school (program, amount to spend, etc, etc). She should know what has tripped her though she is good in many aspects and find a strategy to overcome that shortcoming.
BS/MD programs associated with a top (30) medical school are extremely competitive and attractive. Attending a top (20) college and then applying for a great medical school is a good traditional way if one could face challenges. Purely personal opinions, no any offenses. Indeed, all BS/MD programs worthwhile to be seriously considered in the last stage of making decisions
