does anyone know when SLU will begin reaching out to the med scholars applicants
UTHealth (McGovern Medical School) & UTMB:
of applications received = 300+
of students invited for interview = 52
Interview days: Jan 29 and Mar 3
About 20 students receive acceptance letters and 10 students metriculate (5 at UTHealth and 5 at UTMB).
Students were interviewed at UTHealth in the morning and at UTMB in the afternoon.
I have not followed this thread at all (came to know about this thread via another user) so I do not know which users are / were accepted into NEOMED BS/MD in 2015 (so pardon my ignorance).
To those who received final decision acceptance notifications from NEOMED BS/MD in 2014 / 2015 / recent years â
How did you or your applicant respond to their acceptance. Did you :-----
⢠Mail your BS/MD acceptance response back to the UG
or
⢠Mail your BS/MD acceptance response back to the NEOMED
or
⢠Log into the UG portal to accept the BS/MD acceptance offer
or
⢠Accept BS/MD offer via a link / url to accept the offer.
Or
⢠How many days window (2 / 3 weeks) did you have to accept/decline the offer? Did you have to pay a fee with that acceptance ?
@dreamed I have not seen that much interactions/posts related to NEOMED in this thread. Also it is going to be rare for students/parents from previous year NEOMED going to read this thread and respond to your questions. Occasionally @jumbletumbles posts here with wise comments. I noticed you and @jumbletumbles are very active in the NEWMED threads. Anyhow, by next Friday 3/11 you and others waiting on NEOMED will know the results for this year. GL
@WaitingtoKnow Congratualtions on Temple/Temple BS/MD admission
@AdmissionsAdmin @1Tcollegemom Thanks for all your post recently related to interview and will be beneficial to all future students.
But I do have a general question and would like to get your input. The point related to eveyything else is set to zero and interview determines the final outcome. That point may be true when the interview is MMI. But do you think it is true for the traditional interview? Because found in some programs which are not MMI, the interview did not even last 9 minutes for many students. So I wonder, how and on what basis that program selects students. The way I am presuming the selection could be, there are so many factors the program considers and ranks and has a list. The interview component has a certain points and gets added to the ranking list. Because it is so hard and be objective for any person who is conducting the interview to assess the student in such a short time and also to make notes right away, because the next student is in front of them with in 10 minutes.
@Goldenrock - Thanks. I am the initiator of NEOMED thread which explains why I am so active on that thread
@GoldenRock I will say this about the process we have, which may or may not apply elsewhere: in no circumstances do we weight file review scores equally with interview scores; there is always, always, always more weight associated with scores given by interviewers than file reviewers. In most all circumstances, however, interviewers will have access to file reviews comments and scores, before they themselves give final score (this would not be the case in the MMI format). When candidates are discussed individually by the entire committee they will have everything in front of them. Post hoc analysis indicates committee ranks run tightly with interviewer scores, not file reviewers who have not met the applicant.
Youâd be surprised how much information I can get in 9 minutes. I generally spend much longer than that, but usually I can get a very good sense of an applicant in just a few minutes. There are certain green and red flags that Iâm looking for that get exposed quickly. Time spent beyond those initial minutes is simply confirming in most cases. Applicants that want to play things close to the vest by not engaging with me quickly WILL get a bad score, because I wonât play that game.
Were penn state decisions supposed to come out today?
@medprograms thats what many people said but so far, no results! i think it was all hearsay and speculation tbh
@medprograms Still no change on the portal for me
Does anyone know when Stony Brook sends out interview invites for the scholars for medicine program.
For PSU, Portal changes were predicted based on last two yearsâ trends. So there was a pattern or maybe it was a coincidence⌠We donât know.
@ymehkri Again based on last yearâs thread, the email for scholars for medicine program at Stony Brook came the Friday after the scholarship email was sent out. Since they sent the scholarship info today, I hope we should hear something next Friday? My guess is as good as yours:))
@goaltobemd thanks!
@bswids @NJTDad Yo!! How do you guys know about the BU decisions coming out?? And how do they notify you? :0
And, while Iâm on the subjectâdo any of yall know how/when REMS decisions come out? I saw in 2014 someone on a forum got a call on the 10th with the decision!!
How many Medical Interviews do you think would be good to have so that we have a reasonable chance for these programs ?
@agirlinasweater email for bu came that said to monitor the account because Admission decisions will be posted on the Applicant Link on March 19. Donât know if undergrad or regular though
