@BSMDApplFather did you receive an email? I still haven’t gotten anything.
@GoldenRock have you only heard of one Miami decision going out, or multiple?

My S got the email from Miami too. “You were one of only 19 students selected from a group of over 400 highly competitive applicants”

@BSMDApplFather @GoldenRock @PVNova are only only acceptances going out right now?

Yes we received an acceptance email from Miami around 8 am EST today with the same text of 19 students being accepted.

@GoldenRock Congrats to you and your daughter! Have a well deserved fun time on Moon :slight_smile:
Congratulations to everyone who got admission into one or more programs! Good luck to the rest.

@GoldenRock Hearty CONGRATULATIONS!!! to your daughter and proud parents.

@what???!! Reply to your post#3128 on UMiami GPA and MCAT requirement:
Based on today’s acceptance email from med school “Students will be promoted to medical school after three or four years of undergraduate studies only if they meet the following requirements:
a. Cumulative GPA 3.7/Science GPA 3.7 (required by end of year 3 in order to request delayed entry)
b. MCAT: Composite score of 513. The latest time to take the MCAT is April of your junior year or last anticipated year of undergraduate study.”

Thank you HS2DirectMed for this very helpful information and your many helpful comments along this thread!

For everyone - how hard do you think it is to achieve a 3.7 in science at Miami and a 513 composite (which seems to be the equivalent of a 33 on the MCAT)? Does it make Miami less attractive then a REMS, PLME or whatever Case Western’s acronym is? Or any other program that garantees med school entry without these requirements? Is Miami less attractive now for some students (like Wash U) because of its extra barrier to entry into med school?

Received UMiami Singer Scholarship (full tuition). Email came in about 20 mins ago.

@texaspg Thanks and here is the quick info about OU BA/MD Program.

  1. It is relatively new (started in 2000) and focus heavily on Humanities during UG
  2. Takes only 5-8 students (every year the number of applicants increases but not that high like top tier programs)
  3. It is a 4 + 4 year program with their own OU Medical college (UG and Medical college in different cities 30 miles apart)
  4. Surprised, it gives solid merit aid package for NMF (we are very happy to take it!). Pretty close to free ride for UG.
  5. Offers lot of support for inter-disciplinary programs, study abroad and any honors college course only 20 students
  6. Have no idea about the medical school (except US news ranking 63 for research and 72 for Primary care) (Any one has any input on on this, please post or pm me. Thanks)
  7. MCAT needed (above previous year average - 30)
  8. But GPA above previous year average - 3.75). it will become higher with each year. Don't know how hard it is to maintain 3.8 in OU. (Every thing can not come free!)
  9. Good university atmosphere (college town) with decent dorms and good food

Congrats everyone on the recent acceptances into some of the most competitive programs. I say this because any BS/MD program beats the acceptance rates of all Ivies, modern Ivies or the most selective Standford!
Good luck to the rest who are still on hold. Most times the best things take the longest to knock your door.

@GoldenRock

Congrats to your daughter and off course the proud parents. Your updates and consistent help on this thread hasn’t gone unnoticed after all! Good luck to her.

@HS2DirectMed
Congrats on your recent acceptances and scholarship. I’m not surprised at all. Good luck as more options fill your plate!

@HS2DirectMed Congrats! You are on a roll. With a Singer scholarship is Miami on your list or you have other prestige+great price options in mind?

@HS2DirectMed, @GoldenRock congrats!!

@what??? Based on the question in parents forum during interviews they mentioned that the 1 in 20 students drop-off.

My son also got in UMiami, no email for singer scholarship so assuming he did not get it

Anyone planning to attend Hofstra?

Any word from Sophie Davis?

@GoldenRock You have been working hard for this group. I’m so happy that your daughter got accepted into a BS/MD program.
