***Official Thread for 2016 BSMD applicants***

@Threebrook Does that include people who were placed on “under consideration”

@gongtd1 Do colleges offer need based financial aid for undergrad AND med school? or only for undergrad?

@HS2DirectMed I have no idea tbh… I heard med schools do offer need based(?) but feel like it will still be extremely expensive

I don’t think you get need based financial aid for medical school. It is considered as grad school.

or not… i have no idea actually

Congrats to all who got admission in to Brown PLME and also for folks who got in to various Ivys today.

@narkor Here is my understanding based on past years. There are 2 threads created, one for applicants (this thread) and second for results. This thread in general is more of a blog of almost 8-9 months with so much information and will be hard for any future students / parents to go through 200+ pages to get the gist of it.

The result thread is going be almost 1 post from each person with their stats, what colleges/programs applied / accepted / rejected and what they ended up taking it. Also give the financial package (need based or merit) and finally the reflections. Hopefully this will be very small and will benefit lot future applicants.

Last year 2015 there were very few posts only but before that there were many. Suggest at least this year every one of us should post in that thread to help students.

The results thread is mainly to post the statistics/attributes, where someone applied, interviewed and got in. It gives an indication to future applicants what different schools might be valuing in their applicants. Waiting until the end allows the posters to post all of the outcomes.

Financial aid varies from school to school at medical school level. Some ivies and Stanford require you to borrow a unit loan (about 30-35k) and still require an estimated parental contribution upto a certain age for the applicant. Other schools show that federal government allows you to borrow upto 44k per year and then you need to figure out where the rest comes from or where you can borrow even more money.

Could someone please give the link to the 2016 BS/MD Results Thread? Thanks in advance!

@jk1998 Not sure where you saw that? Is it at My Home > My Announcements ?

@stdmedsch I went to the UIC - Application Status tab. There were 3 processed applications, 1 for regular admission, 1 for honors, and 1 for GPPA. What I copied and pasted above was from the GPPA application… I honestly don’t think this is the decision though lol

Is there a website where one can access Step 1, Step 2 score distribution, and the Residency Matching info (rather than going to each university website for the data)?
