***Official Thread for 2016 BSMD applicants***

@jk1998, has your my.uic.edu portal been updated? I see the same thing as you on the other website but my.uic hasn’t shown any updates…so I’m a little skeptical

@HS2DirectMed

National Resident Matching Program® (NRMP) is the most reliable information. Not sure this answers your questions directly. Hope this helps some or at least one additional reference in the toolbox.

Is anyone waiting to hear back from Pitt GAP?

All those who got into their dream programs and who do not care about the GWU ba/md acceptance anymore , if you can withdraw from GWU , can free up the spots for those who are on alternate list.

@stdmedsch thank you!

Referring to what @blessu Everyone who got accepted to GW BA/MD who is not interested, please do indicate on the interest form on the portal that you are not interested! It will free up spots for the people who really want the program.

Accepted to Brown’s PLME !!! So psyched. I will decline all other offers so that will free up some spots for everyone :slight_smile:

@blessu one more free spot!

@mkelley Thank you.

How many seats are available for BS/MD at GW?

@texaspg I don’t believe GW has any sort of quota - from what I remember the program coordinator said, they take roughly 10 every year, but medical school admissions applies any interpretation to this. The number of students selected could be 8, or it could be 12, just depends on the kind of applicants they get that year. However, I’m not really sure (don’t think anyone does) how the waitlist system works at that school, but I do know that they care a lot about demonstrated interest for people on the waitlist (if you let them know that it’s your top choice, put in your deposit ahead of time, etc., your chance of being admitted at a later date increases).

@darkjustice - I was curious since 2 people are requesting others to withdraw (CC is not a big sample pool) which to me meant there were probably 20 people on waitlist?

If they have double digit waitlist, they need to have at least 20-30 BS/MD seats?

@texaspg That’s a good estimate, however this year the interview pool was INCREDIBLY small. Only about 20-25 students were invited in the first place, compared to the 40-50 students that were invited in previous years. I’m not sure if it will become a trend in the future, but it was curious to say the least.

Also a small edit to my previous post: when I said 10 every year, I really meant roughly 10 THIS year.

Anyone else on the edge of their seat waiting for the Case PPSP decision? Apparently it’s going to be this afternoon. I’m trying not to get my hopes up…but I’m still dying! ^___^""

@gphati I’ve been out so I haven’t been able to check that portal but I just got an acceptance email

@GoldenRock and @texaspg Thanks a bunch, much appreciated.
