@GoldenRock, so you can’t used AP credit for any of the courses, or just the science requirements?
@Roentgen Let me clarify. Just the courses related to HBS program alone can not have any AP credit and all students will do the same course. Out side of the HBS, students can choose what ever courses as part of their UG reqs. Also this program allows flexibility to go either 3 or 4 years of UG, depending on how students progress and their wish, if I am not mistaken.
Has anybody ever had their BA/MD acceptance rescinded?
@GoldenRock Just like my DD, your DD has been accepted into OU/s MHSP 8-year BA/MD program. Pertinent to that, I searched OU Medicine’s website for their Residency Match lists and got an Error Code. Their IT Department may have it fixed by tomorrow. Here is the link.

@RayznHELL, it’s kind of strange that University of Oklahoma College of Medicine keeps their match lists well hidden, except for their Tulsa satellite campus. Most medical schools in the country can’t wait to post their match lists of their senior medical students, even if it is deidentified and definitely tend to post more than 1 year at least.
@RayznHELL Thanks for the follow up. I did so much search and could not find and that is where I reached out to our good friends in this forum. It looked unusual that information is not readily available, though TU alone maintained and their web site had data for the past few years. Happy to know you talked to IT folks and and let us hope the information is made available to public.
BU SMED (7 yrs) and Uconn SPIM 8 yrs)?
Son got into these two programs and has some interest in pursuing neurology. From financial point of view BU will cost us approx. $80000 more for UG program itself, with very little FA offered. We are OOS for Uconn and both are within 1- 2 hours drive. Is BU worth the extra 80K?
@Roentgen, until fall of 2011, the Resident Match List of the OU College of Medicine was published in their fall issue of OU Medicine Magazine. See page 43 of the following link for the year 2011, which was the last year I could find with a list: http://hippocrates.ouhsc.edu/comweb/oumedicine/OUMedicine_fall2011.pdf So, it was not hidden before. Even now it may just be a mistake by their IT Department. Back issues of the magazine are available here: http://www.oumedicine.com/collegeofmedicine/multimedia-and-publications/ou-medicine-magazine/magazine-back-issues

I know one person at NJIT NJMS who did not take mcat serious and on the old one scored below 20 and had the BS/MD rescinded
Boston SMED Pros:
Research opportunities in collaboration with Harvard
Good residency Match
Good curriculum
Easy to maintain. Grade GPA 3.2
Top Tier 2 / bottom Tier 1 medical school
Good clinical
MBA can be done
Accept AP , but no credit
Internally smed kids have pref on class selection and research requests
UCONN:
Pros
8 years
Non-Binding (They will maintain your seat when you apply out)
Preference for class selection
I can’t speak much for BU, but my sister is currently enrolled in the UConn SPiM and a lot of what she says is unfavorable. The class sizes are typically really big with over 150 students. It’s also really annoying having to drive an hour away to the UConn medical school in Farmington for research and volunteering things, especially because the shuttle does not even run on weekends. Because of this, she has to take time out of the week days which in itself wastes a lot of time, so she is definitely going to apply out to different medical schools. As for me, although I’ve been accepted into the UConn SPiM I’ve committed to Yale.
With regards to the extra $80k you’d have to spend at BU, I would say the year you save and can then spend moving forward in your life is worth much more haha
Thanks @PNova
and @cresent. Appreciated your insights. Congratulations on your acceptances! Yale, who will let
it go?
@ivy705, have you really gotten no substantial financial aid for either BU or UConn? Is it possible to become in-state for Connecticut?
@Roentgen, For BU, it is very minimal <$10000, UG will cost 60,000/yr plus summer term; total cost for 7 yrs we estimated around $560,000. AS an OOS UConn with stem scholarship, UG costs us only $31000, overall 8 yr program 460,000. Not sure, if in-state can be a possibility? Obviously, it will be BU but considering Uconn as a reasonably good school, it is a serious decision for us. Again none is physician in our family and we have a sibling going to explore the medical program in next 2 years…
@ivy0705, I feel like in terms of the incredible research opportunities that are available in Boston, esp. with Tufts and Harvard very close by, and with BU’s medical school having “true” Pass/Fail grading in the first 2 years during basic sciences (which would decrease the level of stress and allow him to concentrate on doing well on the boards), that it would be worth going there, versus UConn. The research ranking difference between BU (#29) and UConn (#63) is IMMENSE, more than 30 ranks.
How many peope in the UConn SPiM program, have been previously successful in being able to apply out to med schools and where? I think that will be key. Are all of UConn’s third year required rotations in Farmington, CT or elsewhere?
Hi All,
Thank you all for all the information, your contribution and time. This thread is extremely helpful for us.
I need help. My daughter got accepted at Union/Albany 8 yrs Medical scholar program and Emory. She is waitlisted at John Hopkins, Wash U. We are having a hard time to decide which one to pick. We are from colorado.
Any help will be appreciated.
I just sent you a message.
Good luck!
I’m trying to make a decision between one combines program and two great undergrads. My choices are the Union/AMC Leadership in Medicine Program, Johns Hopkins, or UNC Chapel Hill. Any input is much appreciated.
@upstream can you post your inputs here too, we’re in similar situation and like to hear as well.
I just sent messages to you guys.
Good luck!
