***Official Thread for 2016 BSMD applicants***

@NJTDad Thank you for the update.

NJIT sent a letter confirming acceptance in the honors college and said they will inform about merit by mid jan.
Union offered admission with 20k (still costs 46k after 20k). No news from AMC after 12/17 submit
Drexel admit with 23k (still costs 48k) no update on Drexel Med (through Drexel or Villanova)

No other responses yet.

Did anyone hear anything from Temple Med?

@dudefromnowhere whaat i only go 16k from union :frowning:

@goaltobemd you made me read the letter again. Sorry for the confusion. Since the interviewer had told very clearly you will get into Albert Dorman…and forwarded to NJMS , I did not pay attention to every line in there. It is indeed an admission letter but guarantees admission to NJIT. In one of the paragraph it clearly states that you will be notified of special programs by respective offices and provides examples of Albert Dorman college and any other professional program (doesn’t say NJMS). In another paragraph it says you will be notified by financial aid department of any merit scholarship. so seems like it is regular admission letter…need to wait for more confirmations. Thanks pressing to know

oh Boy …sorry again. Since I could not believe how can I make such a mistake , went back and opened up NJIT envelop again to read more papers. like @dudefromnowhere , NJIT did sent a letter confirming acceptance in the honors college and said they will inform about merit by mid jan. Second page also mentions about application forwarding to NJMS. @goaltobemd and others my apologies again. This time I can confirm what I said originally was correct!!!

@dudefromnowhere Union $20K presidential ward, Drexel 24.5K, Hofstra 27K per year. agree it still cost nearly 50K give your take despite of all those yearly scholarships.

@NJTDad No apologies needed. I can understand how confusing these things get. Congratulations on so many acceptances and merits too. Thank you for such a detailed update. I will keep you all posted too.
@dudefromnowhere congratulations to you too!

@dudefromnowhere congratulations !!! @goaltobemd , it is heck of an experience for bot students and parents specifically the first time freshman and the first kid in the family. I almost feel like can point out 1000s ways things can dramatically improve in the process. I m sure we all have our lists

@njtdad I totally agree. This is a very tedious process and it is very stressful to keep track of everything. Well CC is very helpful and it feels good to share other applicants status.

Going to upload my Miami video later today! What did you guys do for the video? Documentary style?

Kind of late question- What are matriculation requirements for UM? MCAT required? Score? GPA? Also what is success % of people going from Undergrad to med school.- I read somewher 60% success from accelaearted program. that is kind of low. isnt it? any one can comment on requirments to matriculate and success %?

@Dadofhskid MCAT requires: yes, minimum score of 30. GPA: Overall and Science GPA of 3.7 Yes, I also read about the 60% rate. Low indeed.

@tennisfan23 I just recored a video on my camcorder and saved it and sent the link to the dropbox.

@ITMom56 also received VCU undergrad. Did you get anything regarding scholarship from them?

@itsbrown I recieved the acceptance to vcu but no scholarship info or bsmd stuff so…

@itsbrown no scholarship info from VCU

So, do most programs not really inform you of your status until January?

@jhgong Today I received Baylor2 med interview official confirmation email for Jan 22 to book plane ticket etc.
Do we also receive Jan 23rd schedule for excellence?

@HS2DirectMed Congrats on Baylor. FYI. But make sure to gather all the needed information related to Baylor/Baylor process. Jan 22nd is for Baylor UG, 1st level screening step. Then there will be another interview by Baylor Medical later. Basically need to make 2 trips to Texas. Since we no longer planning for Baylor, I may not be up to date, not sure if there is any change in the process.
Baylor2 day on Jan 22nd is independent of Jan23rd Excellence day. Jan 22 is for BS/MD program where as Jan 23 excellence day is for any UG program. Jan 22nd is the only day and they informed there is a no alternate option for that. Since you are going on Jan 22nd, as well attend the 23rd day. Check if you can register online for that. They had one in Nov 3rd week also.

All: Spoke to some one in Albany this morning. She confirmed that when some one has applied for more than 1 program, will wait to know the details from other program and then only will let know for interview. This is what I expected and makes sense since no one wants to make multiple trips for the same medical college. The moment I gave my D name, she told, since she applied to both RPI and Union and hence did not get any info from them though applied to Albany on 15th. Recall, Albany notifies for interview super fast in 2-3 days so far.
We have not heard anything from RPI so far. Also not clear since @sonpat mentioned that she got the interview date for Albany for Union and applied for Union and Sienna and not heard anything from Sienna.
Looks like we need to wait patiently until every thing happens in its own way.

this is such a confusing process and so glad we have this group for updates

did anyone else hear from NJIT? My son gave UG interview but we have not heard anything after that.

He uploaded UMiami video yesterday and got notification right away.

@HS2DirectMed Congrats on Baylor.! it is a really nice program.
