***Official Thread for 2016 BSMD applicants***

@BSMDDAD Thanks for sharing. It is unfortunate though NEOMED and partner universities recognize the need for more physicians, they are not increasing the number of students for OOS. NEOMED is an excellent opportunity for in state high school students since it is close to 100 and no other program matches to this level. But it allows only 3-5 students for OOS. Wish they increased OOS counts with this change.

hands down Iā€™m totally applying with my 3.1/4.0 GPA
Wish me luck, Iā€™ll NEED it (badly)

but for regular low ranking students like me which ones do I have a shot at? lol

@izasaix University of South Alabama Early Acceptance Program is a low-tier program.

does anyone know where I can find the supplemental application for TCNJ? (if there is one?) Also how does Rutgers stack up against Drexel in terms of med school?

A couple of days ago, the supplement for University of Miami HPME was available through the common app, but now when I checked itā€™s gone. What should I do?

@ BSMDDAD - Your article blurb about BS/MD is informative. Where did you extract this from ? I have been in talks with the BS/MD admissions and no one seemed to mention this upcoming change ? Will the students applying this fall (2015), will have to go through 4+4 or 3+4 ?

Uconn gives preference to instate students

How many students get admitted to UConn program? Can someone who got admitted (13-14 and 14-15) to this program kindly share their profile? Thank you in advance!

  1. How many students get admitted to Stevens Institute of Technology / NJMS program? Is it open to all or only NJ or any preference to NJ?
  2. Any feedback on between Stevens and College of New Jersey UG programs and location (both are NJMS).
  3. Any feedback on Stony Brook and Virginia Commonwealth? Is both locations safe? Thanks in advance.

15 students are admitted to UCONN SPIM program.My daughter is in this program.

@HoustonTxDad

The stats for U Conn program:

in-state: 131/20/6
oos: 262/17/7

Caveat with this program- one must maintain 3.6 GPA and obtain 30 on MCAT.
Good luck!

which can be considered the ā€œlow-tierā€ or easier bs/md or bs/do programs?

Besides sending either ACT or SAT reports, is there a need to send the following to every college?

  1. SAT 2 Subject Tests
  2. AP Tests
  3. Community College transcript (due to dual enrollment between my school and local college for subjects like Spanish
  4. UC Berkely transcript (This summer did 2 courses)
  5. Is it needed to send both ACT or SAT unless a school explicitly says it accepts only SAT
    (Got ACT 36 so contemplating is it needed to send SAT)

Is that not sufficient to send only to the college which you join and send it in next year May? Why do every college need all these reports (item 1 to 4) now?

Since BS/MD students in general apply for more schools (unlike BS students), it is lot of logistics, tracking besides spending money.

Thank you @upstream !! Generally how much scholarship uconn program offers? especially for OOS kids?

id like to know the answer to GoldenRock 's answer too

would you suggest sending AP scores of 3 (in bio and world hist) or witholding them?

@aichoux

AP scores are LEAST important among the tests. They are usually unimportant during the admissions process.

@upstream so no obligation to report them on common app?

@aichoux

Yes, itā€™s optional for one to report AP scores on common app.

Hi Iā€™m a senior in high school. Could anyone guide me to a few bs/md programs that I could get into? I was hoping for a 2-3 reach, 5-6 match or somewhere close to it and the rest is a safe schools. My top choice would be to get into UMKC because I just like the program and looking into OU bs/md program. What are my changes for UMKC and OU?

Hooks: So Iā€™m from sub-urban Oklahoma. Go Sooners!! Yeahā€¦ so weā€™re (OK) the 49th in educationā€¦ the school I go to isnā€™t the most competitive, but its one of the best in OK, though that isnt saying much.

I would love to hear some feedback. I know that my stats arenā€™t the most stellar but itā€™s the most I could do. I donā€™t care for location, but I want a decent education no matter where I go. Thanks you so much in advance for the help.
