I have to say…I wish CC would publish the name of the vendor who designed this new format, and who can NOT seem to do fixes to it in over two months. If anyone is looking for a site developer, this would be a vendor to avoid like the plague.
If you look in the source for any page here, you will see references to vanillaforums.com . It would seem likely that that is who CC got their new forum software from. The .com version is commercial; there is also a .org version which is open-source.
They claim to be the software behind over 700,000 forums.
One of their selling points is their ability for customization in various forms. It’s hard to say whether the issues with CC are due to bugs with Vanilla’s software, or with CC’s customizations, since we don’t have any insight into well level of customization was done. Maybe some of both.
Vanilla has there own forum, you could always go there and ask if certain features are possible, like post numbers or sub-forum subscriptions.
My biggest pain point is with the email subject lines, who knows if that will ever get addressed.
ML, thanks! I don’t need an exact date; I just needed to know whether or not it was coming. To my knowledge, this is the very first time anyone has specifically said so.
Boy is that ever the truth, thumper.
notrichenough, they also claim to provide customer service, in addition to being customizable. Something isn’t adding up.
LasMa…that is hilarious. Customer service? I don’t think so…unless we are being led down a primrose path.
Two interesting pages re Vanilla Forums: <a href=“http://vanillaforums.com/plans”>http://vanillaforums.com/plans</a> Which plan does CC have? And are they getting what they are paying for? Why would administrators be able to “spoof,” which means being able to sign on as other members. This is an advertised feature. Wouldn’t they then have access to that other member’s PMs?
Now this post as featured on Vanilla Forums’ FB page is a hoot: <a href=“Learn How to Engage Your Members & Customers: The Higher Logic Blog”>Learn How to Engage Your Members & Customers: The Higher Logic Blog;
@Midhelper, I asked the administrators - subscribing to subforums IS on the list.
@curmudgeon asked that his comment be posted here:

Thanks @MaineLonghorn - why haven’t they just posted this list for us?
@Midhelper, not sure. I know it’s quite an extensive spreadsheet, and there are technical, moderator, and user issues all in one place. I think that all issues brought up by users HAVE been incorporated.
Oops.
Oh, some of them are communicating. Even if not on this thread (though I haven’t the slightest clue why it wouldn’t be public), some of TPTB are communicating
romani, you mean they’re answering questions in PM?
Mmm… not quite.
I mean, if there is a spreadsheet out there somewhere, then something is going on that isn’t being communicated, ya?
Ya.
Morning everyone, I’ve posted a quick update on a new feature that we hope will solve the logout issues. Please let us know in case you experience any difficulties!

Cannot edit above post. Message was “whoops! You need to enable JavaScript.” Did not happen yesterday.
My ignore no longer blocks posts.
Got the java warning when I accidentally clicked helpful on a post.
On a phone… both mobile and desktop versions doing same things.
@RunsWScissors @romanigypsyeyes Thank you for the feedback. We were in the middle of a release this morning, but the issue mentioned should be resolved. Please let us know if you continue to experience any issues.
