I remember when the mods were listed for each area. And now there are just a few for the entire site? Just as I suspected, many mods must have quit. (And maybe that’s why romani has been given mod powers?) Without enough mods, this place could quickly become the wild west…
@CTTC - No, I wasn’t given mod powers at all. It’s a glitch in the system that clearly TPTB don’t care about.
If TPTB cared about their site I would just start moving things around because they clearly don’t care about what’s happening here (with my not-really-a-mod powers) but I wouldn’t dream of making more work for ML.
In my estimation ML is the only remaining Mod who regularly responds to Reports, and there are 2 others that moderate to a much lesser degree. While I may be the only Mod to officially resign after the upgrade, others have gone dormant, waiting to see if things recover. While moderators were asked by CC Admin for suggestions for the new site, when it actually happened, rather than making it easier to moderate, many of our tools were taken away and have not been restored.
The site is suffering from fewer moderators AND a reduced ability of the moderators present to do the job. And yes, the result will be a much less civil community.
As far as support from TPTB, all I’ve seen is a CC Admin moderate incorrectly because they don’t care to participate with the Mod team (even though managing them is part of their job description) and be consistent with moderating guidelines.
@smdur1970 - I noticed that problem myself. I find if you click on the left side of the “W”, then you’ll get the “V” list. If you click on the right side, then it works fine. It happens with all the letters by the way.
That’s pretty funny. Looks like the click space extends all the way to the right of each letter as far as the next letter, instead of the blank space that appears on the screen. Talk about poor coding!
Goodness, this is like a bad break-up, isn’t it? It starts with the other person telling you “no, everything’s fine…I’m just busy”, yet the communication becomes less and less frequent… and actions keep telling you otherwise. I’m in the stage where I have realized that the break-up is imminet, yet I have not yet completely let go, and still occassionally drive by their house :-). Eventually, I will find someone new and will have moved on completely.
Still occassionally come back for info, but only check 1 or 2 college forums. Such a shame, as I used to click around on any of the ones that showed new posts.
Personally, I’m minding the increase in trolling, Wasatch’s example is a good one. It’s always been possible for some nastiness to sneak through, but it seems more unchecked.
I haven’t noticed an increase in spam/nasty comments so much as I’ve noticed a lack of or delayed response. No surprise since it seems like ML is the one of the only ones monitoring thousands of posts every day.
