If you are being harassed by a poster on your thread…hit the “flag” button at the bottom of one of that poster’s posts, and report it. Say you have received a harassing PM from that poster.
the benefit of my kid going through both programs. Are you angree because the new site sucks and doesn’t work? Sorry,I used to love CC but it has become a bummer.
Sorry about typos on other posts…phone not allowing me to edit.
@thumper1 Thank you. Do you know how to do that on mobile? Also, they never commented on my threads. They are cursing at me and harassing me because I didn’t give them a good chance me.
Looks like someone is moderating posts… somewhat.
Yes, the last mod said there were a few watching the reporting posts, but as they increase their presence will be even less-noticed.
But not enough moderation. There’s a sort of classic anarchy definitely showing. Without some checks and balances, the arrogant, ignorant and mean spirited will go unchecked. If we say anything to them, the response is they mock. Right now, I’m settling for knowing some of those blowhards will get theirs, when they hear from colleges. the others are their own worst enemies.
Didn’t we have some other tense time on CC when we joked we need “happy threads?”
The above was posted by Moody on another thread today.
Moody, can your colleagues answer questions about the status of this site? Over a month ago, Roger Dooley mentioned imminent changes to take place, and an update to come soon. It’s been almost two months (this was posted at the beginning of April)…and communication has disappeared.
I was admonished previously for asking who the moderators are. Made no sense that that was considered reprehensible.
ANYHOW, in the event this thread is read still by admin, is there a setting so that when we receive notification of an update to a bookmarked/subscribed thread, the notification includes the actual wordage of the new post, not just a link to such post? I get this on other forums which use the same platform and it is very helpful.
The moderators for each section used to be listed. I believe that feature might have disappeared with the changeover. Now it appears that there are so few mods (and those that are still doing it are very part-time), that to list them would make it obvious that very little moderation is occurring.
I also remember the days that any hint of discussion of moderation would result in cyber hand-slapping. And even questions to the mods via PM would be left unanswered (despite the claim that posters could discuss issues with the mods via PM).
Anyone reading here been approached to be a moderator? I understand that is happening now. How on earth would such an appeal read? Considering that most of the former mods have quit, who on earth would agree to moderate as a volunteer?
Well…now, it’s pretty easy to see who a moderator is! It says “super moderator” right under their screenname.
Wonder what’s up? Since those communicating with us have stopped doing so.
This was asked for months ago, along with removing the poster’s name from the email subject so that the posts can be properly threaded by an email app.
Hasn’t been done yet, probably never will be.
Well, yes, but that’s only if the super mod posts in a thread. The mods for a particular section used to be listed at the bottom of that section. There’s no way of knowing whose left in the mod stable unless they post.
II don’t care if I know who. I care more about their actions in controlling the rowdy crowd.
There are moderators/administrators looking at reports, so use the “Flag” button if you see a TOS violation. Please don’t complain about moderation if you aren’t submitting reports. Sometimes I will see complaints about moderation from a user who has not submitted a single report! Even with a full complement of mods, we can’t look at every post in thousands of threads.
ML, do you know if there’s a way to report posts from phone? I’m almost always just on mobile and I can’t figure out how to do it from there.
There are a few nasty posters I’ve flagged, sometimes more than once. And I believe others have flagged them, too. And I know that, traditionally, if even a nasty person is still contributing to the flow of a discussion, they may not have been edited or rebuked. I don’t expect someone to respond to my flag, just because. But there really isn’t the same level of vigilance. I get it.
ML, I just went back and it does look like someone deleted a few posts by one gal I have in mind. So I see there is some action.
Well, as previously posted by a former mod:
And now the kiddies will be out of school, and they have been troublesome during school breaks in the past. Now with the decreased moderation, watch out!
