Subjective:

* Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Stage Crew- (Lighting Designer for 3 years, Stage manager last year and this year)

I also tutor about 4 days a week (some volunteer/ some paid)
* Job/Work Experience: Worked full time (40hrs a week) for my school districts IT department over the summer
* Summer Activities:WORK!!!
* Essays: Decent common App essay I think, but my supplements were much better. I visited and had a great experience and connected with a professor, so the “why tufts” essay was very good.
* Teacher Recommendations: My junior year chemistry teacher wrote one, which I assume is decent because he writes a lot of them. My second was from my junior year Calculus teacher who absolutely loves me. I’m his TA now and I saw the recommendation and it was possibly one of the nicest things ever said about me.
* Counselor Rec: Probably ok, but not great because our guidance department is overwhelmed and student-guidance relations are somewhat impersonal.
* Additional Rec: None
* Interview: Went extremely well. Sat around with the interviewer and talked for almost 2 hours.

 • Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Really don’t know, but I will definitely take it

General Comments: Uh… yeah, feeling pretty good
Can’t wait to see everyone next year

@jbs: Where in NJ are you from? I’m from Monmouth (:

@thedresdenpony- I’m from maplewood. Right outside of newark. How many more do you think there are? I was the only applicant in my school district I think

Oh wow just realized mine says female… That’s a lie, I’m a guy… I copied someone elses form and forgot to change that part haha

Well I have no shot in hell of getting in next year if these were the stats of the acceptances this year.

About how many people apply early, does anyone know?

Ajax, found this article from two admission cycles ago: [" + artTitle.replace(“-”,“”) + " - " + “Tufts Daily” + "](http://www.tuftsdaily.com/tufts-sees-12-percent-rise-in-ed1-acceptances-1.1309331)

Note that they say Tufts doesn’t release how many applied.

@thedresdenpony - I adored your application, and your essays in particular. Witty, conversational, smart - filled with passion for what you love but willing (eager, even) to step outside of that and find connections. All qualities I think make Tufts interesting, too.

Hi so I am applying to Tufts Regular Decision(Maybe ED2) and was wondering what ppl thought my chances were
I have a 2040 SAT
28 ACT
4.3 GPA
Started a new academy at my high school
Teach a CAHSEE (remedial math) class at my school
am a member of a professional ballet company
run 2 environmental organizations
have two super bomb letters of rec. from teachrs and a realllly good one from a ballet teacher
I am sending an arts supplement and my essays are going to be pretty good.
Ummm i might get an additional letter of rec from my principal who im really close with
is there anything else I can do? and what are my chances?

anyone have any ideas on what my chances may be for regular/ what I should do to show how interested I am?

I think that you have a good chance, however like me your SATs are low, and it seems like that has been a issue for a lot of ED 1 apps this year; i got deferred, but GOODLUCK

@ColumbiaCrazy
My SAT I was a 2070 and I got accepted. I knew I wasn’t going to do very well so I focused on a lot of other things such as extracurriculars (my GPA is not very high either). If anyone wants, PM me and I’ll send my stats.

@Dan: Wow, thank you so much. I can’t believe you remembered my essays. (: I’m a tad bit floored… and so excited to attend Tufts in the fall! Haha you wouldn’t believe how much time I spent trying to cut my common app essay down; first draft was over 1300 words.

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Essays/ extra curriculars
General Comments: Can’t wait to meet you all!

To ajax1221: I simply cannot understand why Tufts would reject you! You seem so qualified! I was accepted on Friday so I was searching for fellow future students and when I read your description you sounded great! In fact, I’m very upset that you won’t be attending Tufts because you sound exactly like the type of person I would want to friends with. (I hiked Philmont this summer and I was excited to see that you, too, have done so) It’s a shame you weren’t accepted but you seem to be handling it well and I wish you luck :)

@juneflower, It’s the exceptionally friendly people like you who made me want to go to Tufts in the first place. Your comment really just made my week. Thank you very much for your support and I will also miss seeing you at Tufts next year.

ajax, I was accepted ED1, and I second everything juneflower said. I’m so sorry about Tufts, but you seem like a really awesome person with a lot of great options coming up. Good luck with everything! I’m sure it will all turn out well for you.

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your support, but I’m not the only one who has been rejected and these comments should not be specific to me. There are plenty of qualified applicants who did not make it in for some reason or another and they deserve our support just as much. To all those who have been rejected, it is disappointing to receive that proverbial “thin envelope,” but we must remember to pick ourselves up and move on. We will all be going on to excellent schools next year and I hope to privileged enough to make some of you my peers. Thank you everyone and continue spreading the holiday cheer. :)
