*Official UC Berkeley 2011 Transfer: Acceptance/Rejection Thread*

There appears to be a lot of BS Cal threads so lets make this the official thread where we post acceptances and rejections. Feel free to post stats if you are compelled to do so. Between the NFL Draft on the 28th and Cal admissions decisions on the 29th, the end of April is going to be an emotional roller coaster. God bless to all who have applied.

lol, its almost 1 month away. create a thread like this on the 27th. that would be more appropriate.

^Nah. We’ll get to chat here and trust me, 27 days is going to fly by.

What clubs/organizations/fraternities or sororities are people planning to join? Anyone else thinking of working?

If this is for chatting you should have titled it differently. Come the 29th we need a thread for just numbers.

I’ve done work study in the past, and I’m not sure I would again. You don’t make enough money to really make a difference, and it takes up time you could be spending studying or building up contacts for your career.

It’s like… If you spend 10 hours a week at work study at minimum wage, that’s less than $80. If you’re so low-income that $80 would make a big difference, then you probably have a generous financial aid package. If you’re taking out thousands in loans anyway, I’m not sure $80 a week is worth the trouble.

If you find a $30/hour job for 10 hours a week it would make sense–that’s $300 a week–$1200 a month–over $10,000 from September-May. That would make a big difference. Most students would, together with grants and scholarships, not have to take out loans.

@ella

agreed.

@eyethink

and trust me, 27 days is not going to fly by.

@Ella89,

Both. We don’t need a separate thread. The reason being, once decisions come out this thread will inevitably turn into a “numbers” posting orgy. But like I noted in my initial post and something nick_scheu has complained about and I agree with, threads are too numerous and we need one central place that aggregates that information we need. So stay and enjoy the party.

@yheafreak

If you aren’t constantly thinking about Cal admission and keeping busy then it will. All depends on your perspective mate.

lol to this pointless spam thread.

alright, dis thread aint worth tha yheafreak’s time. tha yheafreak is goin out!

I appreciate your support, but I have to object to your choice of title. First, how is this “Official?” I see this all the time on forums and it drives me nuts. Unless it’s been designated by a moderator as an “official” thread, it’s not.

And if this is supposed to be a discussion thread, in addition to a decision thread, that should be reflected in the title.

So, I would have preferred this:

“UC Berkeley 2011 Transfers: A Central Thread for Discussion and Decisions”

But I’m just picking nits, because I’m a jerk like that. :-)

^Isn’t “discussion” always just implied? This being a message board and all. ;-)

Sure, unless you specify a particular purpose to the thread. See, the UCSB and UCSD threads have plenty of discussion, but are centered around the release of decisions. Who got in, who didn’t, when the next batch is expected, etc. Since there won’t be any actual decisions released until April 29, this thread will effectively be mistitled until then.

I really wish I could get moderator privileges here. This forum has great content but lacks organization because of an inactive moderation staff–all they care about is making sure that no one links to the-site-that-shall-not-be-named. I’d have a field day here–combining threads, splitting threads, locking pointless threads, clarifying titles… I would make great use of this guy when it comes to soylatte:

http://i134.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/albums/q108/marj69/GIF%20Images/dancinglock.gif

(and since I’d be a mod, I’d be able to embed images)

^What site is that?

Huh?

10charrr

Anybody down to join a chatroom on the 28th and chat it up all night? I’m sure none of us will be able to sleep.

Actually, since we all know the day decisions will be released, a decision night meet up might be fun as well. We can celebrate, or lick our wounds (completely metaphorically, that is). I’m in the Claremont Colleges area, if anyone is local.

If not a chat room would be cool. AIM or IRC would probably be easiest.

Definitely! My AIM is in my profile page if anybody wants to talk! I can create the IRC room and I’ll post it on a separate thread if enough people are down for this.

@nick I meant the “site that shall not be named” that you were talking about no links to… feel free to PM if it is indeed some sort of offense to mention whatever “it” is.

It’s college p r 0 w l e r. When you try to type it, this happens:

**************.com

I don’t know what the dispute is, but it seems petty to me.

yeah, we deffs should do a purely numbers thread when decisions do come out. first person to access their decision should make a thread :smiley: the “official acceptance/rejection thread” last year was super helpful to me this year, and i would hate to have to look through pages of crap just to get to the yummy stats.
also, i just hungout at berkeley today. felt good.
