*Official UC Berkeley 2011 Transfer: Acceptance/Rejection Thread*

But it says on the Berkeley app website that they release decisions on the evening of the 29th of april

Yes, now. It was originally listed as 12:00PM on April 29. It changed some time later. My guess is that Berkeley didn’t want us to go into meltdown if the decisions weren’t posted until 12:17PM.

But, still, it’s not 26 days. In the worst case (11:59PM on April 29), it would be 23 days, 12 hours, 39 minutes.

^Oh well mispost my bad. No need to get worked up nick lol.

Oh, you two.

Edit: Is it difficult to get a space in a co-op? What’s the life like?

@BostonCrmPie Apply as early as possible - if you’re at all interested, submit an application this second. I applied last May, and I’m on page 3 out of 11 (!) of the fall 2011 women’s waitlist. If you’re a guy, you have a better shot at getting in - the men’s waiting list is only 4 pages long right now. If you’re in EOP or EAP, or have a disability (verified by your college), you’ll get waitlist priority.

I’m really stoked to live there if I get into Cal - life in the co-ops is messy, crazy, fun. Loudness and cleanliness vary from house to house, generally depending on how big the house is (they range from 17 residents at Kidd to 151 at Cloyne). I toured most of the houses on a prospective member tour last month - I highly recommend doing this, as you’ll get a good feel for what each house’s culture is like. (There’s another tour on Saturday, April 16, for Cal Day). I had dinner at one of the smaller houses afterward, which was really fun - residents cook dinner for the house six nights a week, so everyone eats a home-cooked meal together. There’s a lot of info on workshifts, etc. on [Welcome to the Berkeley Student Cooperative](http://www.bsc.coop) if you’re interested!

I definitely agree with altschool! Visit the coops. Every house is really different, so do check them out!

As for Cal Day, hit me up if you guys come! Berkeley is so packed and lively all the time, but particularly on Cal Day…it’s crazy!

Oh, and last year admissions decisions were released at 5:00 PM on the dot…in case any of you were wondering what evening means.

@ eyethink: It’s pretty tough to get into a single. I don’t remember that option even being offered on the housing app, but I’m sure there are some singles out there. My advice would be to go to the housing office or email them at reshall@berkeley.edu, and they’ll talk to you about it.

@emilsinclair9, this is pinoiako916, I will be at cal day on the 16th of april. I will be attending the psychology related events over there. Will you be there as well?

@ Pinoiako: I’ll be pretty much everywhere. I’m trying to become a speaker at one of those events, but I’m not quite sure how to go about doing that. Odds are I’ll be at one of the events you’re at though, either speaking or just present. Hit me up if you want to talk about the psych major, easy classes, ones to avoid, or other stuff in general.

I know that on April 22nd, some community colleges are coming to UCB, and I’ll be speaking on a panel of students there to the CCC students.

@emilsinclair9, I will message you in your college confidential inbox if I am going.

Sounds good!

@emilsinclair9, April 29 5pm can not come soon enough!

Lol I know. It’s rough waiting. I was so anxious to get in last year, that I actually was considering applying to work in the admissions office (after being admitted), so that I could see how the process works and maybe even who gets admitted for this year. Unfortunately… and in some ways fortunately, Cal keeps me too busy for a job lol.

@emilsinclair9, For me, its anxiety times two because I also applied for UCLA.

@altschool

Thanks! I’m definitely looking into this if only for the cheap housing, though it doesn’t sound like I’d make it past the waitlist at this point.

Guys, it now says “End of April 29”!
http://students.berkeley.edu/admissions/fallapp.asp

No, it says “End of April (April 29, 2011).” myBerkeleyApplication says “Decisions will be available the evening of April 29, 2011.”

Lol, paraphrase FTW? :D. Anyways, I guess evening and end could mean the same thing… Im guessing around 5-6PM. Oh boy… I wonder what changed that they have to release it in the evening instead of afternoon.

@BostonCrmPie yay! You never know - they release fall housing offers all summer as people reject offers. And if you’re willing to live in a big house like Cloyne or Casa Zimbabwe, you may get an offer. Plus, if you apply now, you’ll be high on the waitlist for subsequent semesters.

^ Ever since you brought it to my attention, I’ve been considering it. I’m only reluctant to apply now because of the chance that I won’t end up at Berkeley. Thanks again!
