ooo, have you heard back from them yet?!!! I’m still waiting for UCI Bus. Admin T_T

To everyone here worried about their GPA, Haas takes a very good holistic approach to decisions. I know people who had less than 3.6’s get into Haas as transfers so keep your heads up.

I would think they got in because they finished all the Pre reqs and Breadth Requirements.

And since Haas took away that requirement this year, average GPA applicant with stellar EC and Essays may get cut :/

Hope everyone is doing well. What was the application process like? I plan on applying next year for Haas.

The econ majors who got Goldman Sachs type of job are very often Haas students who decided to double major… and they got those jobs primarily because of Haas.

A lot of top students at Haas do Haas/Econ, Haas/Engineering, Haas/Psych so if you see a Psych major getting a job at McKinsey (just a theoretical example), don’t assume that all majors are treated equally in the job market.

Is it possible to apply to Haas if you applied to UCB as an Econ major? I applied from a CCC to UCB, and am currently awaiting admission. I am asking out of curiosity, and, if I recall correctly, you have to apply to the specific school after admission to the campus as a whole.

50 units completed, taking another 18 now.

Overall/Pre-Req GPA: 4.0
Pre-Req: All done, except Calculus 2 (taking now).
IGETC: Done
EC: Various industry-related internships/jobs, volunteer leader, Phi Theta Kappa, etc.

According to haas.berkeley.edu,

“Students admitted to UC Berkeley as junior transfers to the College of Letters & Science or other majors are NOT eligible to apply to the Haas Undergraduate Program.”

Sorry @hharsono :/

Are decisions coming out tomorrow?

Indeed they are!!

@enprovence

i would think now more than ever is when they would look at your resume and essays. If everyone is the same academically speaking, then the only way to stand out is if you have a strong resume and good essays.

Yeah, I really do hope that is the case! I’m pretty much depending on my EC and Essays, hahaha. From the looks of it, it seems as though not that many people applied to Haas?? ( Just guessing from this year’s CC forums.) Or maybe it’s because people do not want to disclose their stats for competitors…

What are some tips for applying to Haas? I plan on applying next year.

@ccstudent27

-One or two Internships at well known firms
-Maintain GPA of 3.8/3.9
-Finish pre req

ESSAYS ESSAYS ESSAYS can’t stress enough. You could have interned at Goldman but if you are a lousy character they won’t take you.

Yeah, Talebi is totally right. I remember you posting about not getting in last year because you didn’t try on your essays. Do you want to exchange Haas essays and give each other quick feedback? I put a ton of effort into writing just my Haas essay to make sure I have a competitive edge- my gpa is only 3.7. PM me your email if you have time.

@talebi you waited an extra year to re-apply?

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it. What were the haas essay prompts about?

HAAS decisions = extreme nervousness

Good luck everyone for tomorrow!

Well i didn’t wait an extra year, i applied for fall 2011 and now im reapplying for fall 2012. But last year i relied on my ECs and grades only and it obviously didn’t turn out too well for me. A buddy of mine had really really good essays but his grades were alright and his ECs were nowhere near the level as you would think for someone to get into Haas but he got in. That’s why this year I really ramped up on my essay portion considering everyone that applies now has a fair chance compared to last year where like 75% got knocked out before they could even get a chance.

Good luck everyone for tomorrow!! Wish everyone the best!!
