@davis262736: 5900 is the enrollment target. Most schools accept 3x that amount since many students do not enroll, so around 18,000 probably were accepted this year.
That is still only a 23% acceptance rate which is nearly half compared to last year!!! @Gumbymom
Very true.
My son got waitlisted by UCSC and UCI(rejected by other UCs) and got accepted by San Diego State(honors) and CalPoly SLO last year.
After all he decided to go to local CC and is doing great( overall GPA3.9 major GPA4.0). He will TAG (guaranteed admission) either UCSB or UCD(They both require GPA 3.2)and is planning to apply for top UCs, too.
CC has been working out great for my son.
P.S. My other son got waitlisted by UCD(and UCSB,UCI, Cal Poly SLO)this year. That is why I am on this thread. Good luck to everyone!
I got into UCI and UCSD
I may have mis read, but are the only criteria that Davis uses to determine waitlisted students their first semester senior year grades and the 200 word essay, meaning they do not look at your other grades/SAT because they already know they are good enough to be at Davis?
Thank you so much momofNASAnerd. I’ve heard the campus has the great vibe you describe. We are in southern California so I scheduled a visit in early May just in case - knowing he’d have to make a decision quickly if lucky enough to make one. Best of luck to your daughter. Her stats are outstanding. Seems like the chances of making if off the Davis waitlist are actually decent compared to other UCs. Hope that’s true this year for everybody here.
@2022Fall Thank you! And good luck to your son on his decision as well!
@cocoonutty i hope that’s true because I am taking 8 ap classes this semester and have gotten all A’s in them.
Keep the faith all you UC Davis hopefuls! But be realistic. It’s tough waiting until May to find out if you’re accepted off the Waitlist. Sadly, even if Davis is your first choice, you must SIR to another school by May 1, and plan to go there unless something changes. It’s a little like musical chairs and you need to have a chair to sit in. Be happy with the school that you SIR to because that is, most likely, the school you will attend. Davis does not accept sophomore transfers (there may be exceptions), if you apply to transfer, it would most likely be junior year. What you can do now is do a great job on your Waitlist essay and updates to your record, submit, then move on with your Spring quarter. You have done a great job getting this far and no matter where you land, with hard work you will continue to do well. Do you guys think I should put my class rank in the additional comments section for the waitlist? I’m rank 2 right now.
I got waitlisted at UC Davis for the Communications major with a 3.95 weighted GPA, a 1340 SAT score, (730 English, 610 Math, 21 Essay) pretty good ECs and essays. I’m gonna SIR at UCSC for now, but i really hope that I can get off the waitlist into Davis because it’s the best place for me educationally imo. Hoping my chances are good knock on wood
@davis262736: UC’s do not consider class rank other than in the context of being ELC eligible. You can put it down in the additional comments, but you need to let UCD know why you would be an asset to the school.
@Gumbymom do you by chance know exactly what UC Davis evaluates while determining if a waitlist candidate will be accepted? Is it just the 200 word essay and senior grades, or the entire application?
@cocoonutty: I do not specifically know what they look at in determining whom they take off the waitlist but I do know they will heavily weight your essay.
Are there any biochemistry majors that got waitlisted here?
Or does anyone know any biochem majors that are waitlisted???
Didn’t you ask this already? Or was that another thread? My daughter is a waitlisted Biochem major.
Just declined Davis waitlist, good luck guys! Im waiting on Irvine waitlist rn
What was your major @AllRejections
