I seriously doubt that UChicago will be posting their decision on the 24th. That’s the just the date that the CSS profile says. I am also applying to Northeastern University EA and the CSS porfile has their date as the 31st, which is the absolute last date that they will post decisions, normally they post around the 15th. So I think any speculation that Chicago will be posting on the 24th is a little bit silly. I don’t even think the admissions office will be open the day before Christmas.

On that note, I think that it’ll be one of two dates: 12/17, or 12/21.
The 17th because it’s closest to last years date (Monday the 19th) and last year was very similar to this year. They got a 20% increase in applicants and the deadline was pushed back due to weather.
The 21st because it’s the absolute last day they can post it before, I’m assuming, the admissions office goes on their winter vacation.

Here’s hoping for the 17th!
I’d really hate to wait until the last day of school to find out about the decision…plus I will be too busy being anxious and unable to get any work done during the week of the 17th…

Same here, the sooner the better! I’ve been distracted the past few days daydreaming about Chicago. It’s been my dream school for two years now and we’re finally closing in on the last couple of weeks before the decision date.

UChicago just posted in the “ask an admissions counselor” thread that they’re looking at a mid-December notification date. I don’t think the 21st would qualify as mid-December, it’s more late December. More info pointing towards the 17th? Or is this confirmation bias? I’m definitely hoping for an earlier decision date.

They said in the email that results would come out mid-December, so I’d probably lean more toward the 17th than the 21st. Are they sending letters out beforehand? Or do we just check online?

They send out an email and post on their website (I think?) a week ahead of time stating the notification date. Then on the date we log into our accounts to view the decision.

Last year Columbia announced on the 8th and UChicago on the 19th. This year looks like Columbia will be announcing on the 6th, so hopefully UChicago on the 17th??

I have two posters (one over my bed and one behind my desk), two UChicago shirts (one I ordered, one I got in the mail with the call me maybe letter), a sticker from an info session on my wall, and I do indeed still have my life of the mind booklet somewhere haha.

Also I dressed up as waldo for halloween this year and this happened:

I censored my name for privacy but I’m sure you could find me if you really wanted to. The image can now only be seen on twitter by those who follow me now because I locked my account.

I have a life of the mind pamphlet, UChicago sunglasses, a sticker, a poster, a T-Shirt, and now, a pennant. Apart from the shirt, though, I think it would be weird to use all of this stuff until (if) I get accepted.

It’s just aggressive advertisement. I “only” have a shirt and glasses, and I agree esimpnoxin I don’t really understand people constantly repping one college if they haven’t been accepted yet… Plus then if they don’t get in it’s a bit awk… Unless it’s for the sports team or something.

cneogy, my transcripts were sent in late thanks to Sandy; UC didn’t receive them until a week after I sent in my Common app/supplement. They saw my application as “incomplete”, and so they sent me a pennant with a letter urging me to finish my app.

Oh, and elloelise, all of this memorabilia is just aggressive marketing.
