You won’t get too much from them until the TAU in January. After that is when you’re most likely to get requests if they need anything.
So I got my TAG status yesterday for UCI. I think I got it, all it says “we look forward to seeing your application.” It later reminds me of my my TAG requirements, and they look forward to your becoming a part of our campus. What’s that mean?
@oldperson1990 All they’re saying is they have it and are awaiting your actual application in November.
I got my tag status and this whole thing is killing me x__x
I’m currently struggling to make my PS better. I’m not a very good writer. Do you guys know how big PS will play in the admission?
Also, I know that the tag doesn’t 100% guarantee admission, but what are the chances of not getting in even with the TAG?
Gah I’m just so worried right now
Your TAG 100% guarantees admission as long as you uphold their guidelines in the contract.
Really? When I went to my CCs transfer center, they told me its not 100%, so I waa really worried. By the way, I am a junior right now so when I transfer I will be a senior. I read that juniors usually are the first picked but since I TAGed it shouldnt be too worrisome as long as I uphold the guidelines right?
Did they say why it isn’t 100%? It definitely is a guarantee, but only as long as you keep up your end of the bargain - that’s what your transfer center may have meant.
@sourwolves Your units will be capped at 70 semester / 105 quarter units. If you’re coming from a CC, regardless of how many units you have (provided none are upper division from any universities?) then you will transfer as a junior.
@sourwolves you can’t be a junior at a CC even if you take more than 2 years there. You’re going to be a junior after you transfer out of a CC unless you went to a university before and something weird happened where you took upper division classes or something. But yea if you follow guidelines your TAG will be accepted.
Lol didnt see golden cubs comment
when I asked them if the TAG is a guarantee, they just told me it’s not 100%.
They didn’t give me a reason my transfer center hasn’t been exactly helpful tho so I’m not surprise I didn’t get the info I needed.
btw thanks for telling me that! Now it makes me feel a lot less stressful knowing that I have a big chance in getting in.
They probably mean it’s not a guarantee until you fulfill all requirements. Getting acceptance early on can be revoked if you mess up these last couple of terms.
UCI does not read the personal statement as part of the transfer application. It is looked at in the financial aid office and regents, though.
Well I don’t know who told you that @sourwolves, because it is a guarantee if you follow the guidelines.
@lindyk8 how do you know that UCI doesn’t read PS for the transfer application?
Really cause the rep I met with who used to review and approve actual applications said they do read the statements
UCI does in fact read PS for transfers. The UC’s that don’t read them are: UCD, UCR, UCSB, and UCSC.

@BackNSchool83 mea culpa! You are so right! There are 5 that read them and I was thinking it was riverside and not Irvine.
I went to find the matrix and saw I messed it up.
Anyway, if anyone wants to see it it’s page 36:

For the record, PS is read by Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, Merced and IRVINE!
Thanks for correcting me.
I’m glad you were wrong lindyk8 you caused some puckering my friend.
sorry @backnschool83. :)) B-)
I decided to go with remembering the four that DON’T read it. The top 3, plus Riverside. Easy-peasy.
Anyone turn in their apps already? I’m almost done with my personal statement. Im so nervous
I’ve tried searching for this on the board but no luck. Does anybody know if their criminology program is hard to get into?
You still have time, get it reviewed by transfer counselors or a rep, or anyone who is and English tutor. Plenty of people are still working on their apps. I think the criminology program isn’t crazy hard to get into from others who were admitted last time, but you know that changes and same with the program I’m applying to which shares a building with criminology… Psych and social behavior. Check out the old threads for the 2015 transfers, and get your work reviewed.
