Official UCI Transfer admittance Thread

^^I’m assuming probably budget cuts also has a great impact? We can’t jump onto conclusions why they are sending out admissions in a process they are currently doing right now.

UC’s tuition’s also apparently cost way more than Harvard and other Private Ivy Leagues Institutions now. It’s gonna cost me +$32,000 = $64,000 in 2-years I’m there.

screw jerry brown and his backup singers.

SMH, regardless of whatever the reason, all they need to do is…GIVE US A DATE. if they can give freshman dates, they can give US a date.

I don’t care really if it’s APRIL 10th, or March 10th, at least I wouldn’t be flying in the dark.

IF ANYTHING, i think it’s time for APPLE to start donating some of that money they are making to their state that they are in, since they are SO prideful and proud of it. California is madd broke, and APPLE is just thriving here and flourishing like nothing is going on. We need help, all these anarchists and vampires.

UGHHH.

In all reality this is a bigger impact on Transfers than freshman. As a transfer this is some of our last shot at getting into the 4 year of our dreams. When UCSD can personally call freshman and tell them they’ve been admitted they obviously aren’t utilizing there time wisely. How about u review my application. I could care less about their attempts to make some 17yr olds day with a personal phone call

^bwahahaha. the last part has my day lifted a little bit.

it is sorta like a slap in the face though to hear reports of freshman getting COURTESY calls and other sorts of caters…IMO, transfers have worked harder. obviously if we didn’t make it after high school, we took the courage to go for X amount of years to go back and still keep pushing, that story is a lot better told than going for 4 years, with all expenses paid by mommy and daddy.

@UCKittyChen. LOL!!! Vampires!! California is the #1 state to make the most GDP out of 50 state. We make +$2 Trillion per year. New York is behind 2nd, and then Texas is 3rd. As you can see, even though we make the most money, our debt is huge enough to decrease public funding.

And also, high school students actually have it harder to get into. They need a higher GPA than we do + they need a very competitive SAT scores.

A 3.2 GPA and no SAT scores can get us into Several UC’s for transfers.

Some of the materials we take might be harder in CC, ie if your a Eng or Biological Science major, but HS student do have it harder. I wholeheartedly agree with lawlking… I mean I couldn’t get into CAL or UCLA with a 3.7-8GPA and 1800+ SAT score… with a 3.7 in CC I’m at least into CAL or UCLA if not both.

like kitty said before, it was fun anticipating at first. I’m just tired of waking up
In the middle of the night because I wanna check my email. Some of us have gotten into CSU’s so we have that as an option but I want a UC damn it. Lol

i understand lawl, but all I’m asking for is a solid date…its mid march and the pace is still january…

Isn’t the solid date April 30th?

high school is a joke and the UCs know this. people have 4.5 gpa on a 4.0 scale. i think any of us who have worked hard to transfer could go back in time and easily get a 4.0 in high school. they need a 4.5 gpa, 2384 ECs, and 12390 on the SAT because there is not much else to base their maturity, work ethic and overall character on

correctomundo on the going back and getting a 4.0

I agree with UCkitty as well. Especially since the CSU SIR dates are soooo close to the end of the time frame for UC decisions it makes it even more stressful. Basically finding out your fate of whether you go to UC or CSU within a span of a few days. Transfers do work much harder, we had to schedule our classes accordingly to make sure that we transfer on time and this whole admission process that we’ve been doing. I’m sure the personal statements from transfer students are much more interesting than freshmen statements as well, we are experienced and seasoned students. I’m 24, I worked ****ing hard at school while keeping a full time job. Tired of seeing the HS kids who still need mommy and daddy to wipe their *ss get all the good stuff.

@ navymike: You’re absolutely right! What the ***k do high school kids know about work ethic, hardships and life experience. That’s why they get some stupid abstract prompt for the personal statement.

^^4.5 GPA scale is used for Honor students. Honor classes are way more rigorous than your average class.
Now, I can’t say that all students, even high school students, aren’t mature. Each students are capable of their own growth; and yes, you will meet a fair share of immature students everywhere you go.

Dude I’m in the same boat as you… Haven’t heard anything back although I tagged:/ let me know if anything changes by this week!

@UCkittychen about apple
i went to homestead high school in cupertino where STEVE JOBS went to high school and just MINUTES away from apple HQ. apple didn’t donate a cent to our school. i dont expect companies to feel obligated to give free handouts but not even a computer or something to your high school when you are head of apple? come on guy

@ Navymike and UCkitty: At least after we graduate we’ll have more to tell a job interviewer than “I got good grades in college”. I can tell them that I have 4 years of sales experience in corporate wholesale, public relations, and I worked for Edison Int’l. Honestly, I have friends who graduated from Cal a few years ago and are still not working due to the economy or because they still just want to “chill”. I talked to one recently and they were like “Oh I just graduated from Cal, and I’m just trying to hold off the 9-5 for as long as I can”. And I’m like “Dude…really?..I’ve been doing the 8!-5 since I was 18!” It’s ridiculous, I swear.

^^There are students who never had a job and studied during their whole student life. And they were able to land a job before they graduated and thrive. It’s all about how you present yourself through the interview.

A friend of mine never worked in his entire life, he graduated UCI within 3-years and landed a job with the U.S. government in New York–and possibly be able to work with N.A.T.O.

Another friend of mine, also never worked in her entire life. She landed a job before she graduated as an accountant. She was able to start working when she graduated. She makes $40,000 at 21 years old, and now working on her CPA. This is her first job ever, by the way.

i have several friends that graduated from cal in 2008 and still dont have jobs in their fields. one of my friends got a bs in mechanical engineering from berkeley in 2008 and is now a musician. on the other side of the spectrum, i had a friend who graduated from ucsb in media something or other and landed a 100k salary job in a .com startup in sf

hmmmm. really? maybe there were teachers who told him he would never amount to anything or something.

thats odd though, that should be reported on 9to5mac or macrumors…

i kinda praise SJ all the time, i love my mac, but thats kinda…effed up.
