congratulations!!! its good to hear SOME news! and good luck at UCLA! :D

Is the major just “mathematics”? I didn’t know they had one at LA… that’s awesome though! I hope to see you in the fall!! :)

The major I requested is Applied Mathematics. I’ll also be following the Actuarial Plan which requires the same courses as Biz Econ (plus all the math stuff which I already did). So it really works nicely.

it still feels unreal guys! I don’t think I can rest until the decision website is updated and I have access to myUCLA. The fact that it’s not letting me accept the offer of admission is causing me to have the irrational fear that the URSA thing is a technical glitch. Although I am stoked, I am still seriously ****ting bricks.

I’m not surprised you were accepted for Applied Mathematics… It’s not even that competitive. Only 26 people applied and 16 were accepted. lol

If I had applied for Math originally, I would have definitely got in. Biz Econ is such a scam, if you’re not TAP certified you’re chances are basically nil.

Haha I’m starting to get this other irrational (maybe it’s not?) fear that UCLA officials are reading this and are gonna rescind offer. ^^^ To the officials (yes I’m paranoid) PLEASE DON’T! I REALLY WANT TO ATTEND YOUR AWESOME UNIVERSITY!!!

Don’t worry. I’m sure it’s definitely NOT a technical glitch lol. It feels effing awesome though right? especially when you’ve already came to terms with the fact that you weren’t going to get to attend UCLA and out of nowhere… it came true lol.

debbie downer.

Why would you say biz econ’s a scam??? I know of people who got in…

Right now it feels half-awesome, half-o.O. I’ll probably be bouncing off the walls once I am able to submit my SIR. Yea I had come to terms with not going to college this year. In fact I bet my mom $100 I wasn’t getting in on appeal. It just seems so unreal…

EDIT: I feel biz econ is a scam because I had a 4.0 in my pre-reqs. I was president of AGS. I hold two jobs working around 25 hours a week, and I’m 17. The only thing I didn’t have is TAP certification because no community college in my area (or anywhere near my area for that matter) offers it. I just feel like most of those biz econ slots are allocated for TAP students. I’m not bashing them, they are awesome that they could complete the program and get into the Biz Econ major. I just feel that students who don’t even have the option for being TAP certified are left out.

I don’t understand why your doubting that your in lol. Like i said, ‘Applied Math’ is not an impacted major and the average GPA was like 3.5. It’s not really a feat that you got in under that major. no offense

Why would you say biz econ’s a scam??? I know of people who got in…

who cares. supa goooodjob!

The reason I’m surprised is because I was told that I could not be considered for a different major. I was told this by UCLA admission counselors. However, the UC counselor at my community college said that I could be considered for a different major. Obviously, I was getting conflicting information. I had nothing to lose, so I sent in my appeal and called again to ask if I could be considered for a different major. I was told that technically I can put anything I want in my appeal letter, but that UCLA does not grant second reviews for a new major. On top of all this, there is a severe budget crisis I was sure I had no chance. Truly the unbelievable has happened. I’m really shocked.

Thanks everyone, reality is starting to sink in, it really is an awesome feeling. I honestly hope you all get in.

grindallday,

im guessing you got easy As in calc and calc based physics, and chem right? thats why its such an easy major to get into?

Why would you say biz econ’s a scam? Is it that hard to get into?

No obviously you are allowed to request an appeal for a different major, your proof. I was also told that I could appeal under a different major, but decided not to.

I actually did get A’s in my calc courses lol.

yeah? calc based physicsand chem too? you must be some sort of genius. but really, hard or not, he or she is in. no need to tell them its “really not all that hard”

Hahaha omg sorry guys! My computer is glitching :((

Yea, I plan on making thread later on addressing the topic of asking to be considered for a different major. That way if future applicants find themselves wanting to request a different major, they won’t feel as hopeless or trapped as I did.

And njoy, I got the debbie downer comment, and I appreciate it man. But it’s not worth it, don’t waste your time man, regardless of what he says, like you mentioned, I got in! That’s all that matters and thanks again.

Geez I’m not being coherent at all tonight. It’s just so crazy and unreal.
