Official UCSC Transfer 2012 Decisions

lol oops “This video is unlisted. Only those with the link can see it.” i hope i don’t get rescinded for posting that.

@ orgasmicDANGER: hahaha. yeah the that kid. I was like “that doesn’t give people a very good impression about UCR students”. Clearly some bad video editing there. LOL!

I’m so excited for all of you transfers that were accepted, congrats! Believe it or not UC Santa Cruz was my first choice and I can’t wait to begin my Fall there!!!
For those of you who are going to live on campus, are you happy or upset with the Transfer Community Housing we transfers are going to be placed in?!

@ anyone who got accepted. Have you received any kind of preliminary financial aid offers or anything? I was told I would get them soon after getting acceptance notification.

^I haven’t heard back yet, but I read somewhere that financial aid awards begin April 1st. I don’t have a resource for that so its not 100%, just what I read.

i’m in santa cruz right now!! UCSC is so awesome!!! the campus is so big and the trees are realllly tall and beautiful. It is literally a freaking forest!! everything is so pretty and the freshman dorms are so cool and like surrounded by forest. Theres a bunch of trails too and if you go through the west entrance and drive all the way up you can see the ocean and there’s a really big field of grass with deer there are deer all over campus!! The people here are kinda weird though. everyone is grungy and dirty looking lol. None of the girls wear makeup either i’m like the only one. I guess theyre trying to look natural or something. and there are signs that say WARNING!! MOUNTAIN LIONS!! lol I couldn’t find the transfer housing though. we just drove around campus though, tomorrow we’re going to get up early and walk around and stuff. I also went to the main beach and boardwalk and its kind of disgusting. there are so many crazy bums and druggies and its gross. And if you look at them or anything they talk to you so don’t make eye contact lol. We took the 101 and the 1 freeways too and that made the whole trip:)

^^UCSC tends to be known as a hippy school
There’s also a huge event for 420

yeah they’re all a bunch of hipsters. and the town nearby is kind of dumpy but i guess its always ghetto by the beach. the campus is really cool though and tomorrow I’m going to check out the natural bridge state beach, its supposed to be really pretty

^Hippies =/= Hipsters!

Hipsters: Own a macbook or some Apple product, love to hang out in coffee shops, love retro stuff, and etc
Hippies: Love to smoke, sing kumbaya, and loves peace

^Lol I own a macbook pro and iPod touch, and I’m FAR from a hipster. I basically consider hipsters all the people that go against the status quo for the sake of being labeled “different”. lol

What I meant was hipsters tend to own a macbook or apple product; not all those who own an Apple product are hipsters.

I figured you weren’t stereotyping or anything…just clarifying. :D

Hipsters live in Silverlake. lol. All the hipsters from my gf’s school live there. You know how those weird art people are. LOL

Still nothing. I’ve not heard back from a single UC up to this point.

@Factorygirl
I’m nervous about living in on-campus housing, but I’m hoping what happens is that maybe I’ll find some people to move in with off of campus. :stuck_out_tongue: Owning an apartment on your own down there is a no-go. Although my boyfriend and I have talked about maybe moving in together, we kind of both quietly know there’s almost not chance of that happening while we’re in school because of all of the stuff we want to do (basically means that… at some point one or both of us are going to try to do study abroad, and therefore won’t be there to pay rent for an entire quarter and things of that nature).

I’m kind of an introverted extrovert. I enjoy hanging out with people, but when I need to be alone, I need to be alone, so I’m not sure how well I’ll do living with someone in the same room :stuck_out_tongue: I live with flat mates now and sometimes have issues living in the same HOUSE as people, so… not sure how I’ll adapt to living in the same space with someone 24/7 again (did it in boarding school in high school and didn’t really like it). Also I’m a light sleeper (no sound, no light, or I’ll wake up) so… we’ll see how that goes :x

sweet. Just called to ask about my physics transferring since i wont have it in a sequence to only find out. All student who were admitted were just to the campus. Baskin School of engineering decision wont be out til mid April. GG

So that means there’s a chance I’m admitted but not for my major? What would happen then?

anyone? I’m really confused about this. My stauts just says “accepted” but no as an anthro major. Has anyone actually been accepted to their major and how can you tell?

I’m pretty sure I got accepted into my major, because a day later they sent me an e-mail talking about their social sciences department. On top of their login place, it allows you to change your major as well, and mine reads sociology. I’m assuming if i wasn’t accepted into sociology, they would’ve changed that to my alternative major? Just a thought.
