@classof2017345 I want to add that for those that applied late, their application will be considered on a space available basis, as per my previous correspondence with UF Admission folks.
They plan on enrolling fewer students (6,600) than last year, take that and include the increase in apps and the admit rate goes down to 37%.
@snicks1234 UVa’s dynamic is a little different from UF. UVa has a large number of applications coming from OOS, and they limit the % they can accept from OOS. This tends to drive down UVa’s acceptance rates (and it’s yield rate, the % that end up enrolling).
UVa 2015-2016
30,840 Completed Applications
9,186 Offers of Admission
3,672 First-year students enrolled (about a 40% yield rate)
UF has a large number of in-state applications, and isn’t nearly as popular with OOS students. It’s yield is close to 50%, as in-state students are more likely to enroll vs OOS students.
UF
35,000 applications
13,000 applications
6,600 (projected) enrolled. (about a 50% yield).
From Texas.
28 ACT, 3.8 GPA. Impressice EC’s, bit of a gamble on my essay topic, but ACCEPTED. very happy with this, as I was just rejected OOS for UNC chapel hill. Waiting on hearing from my two other dream schools, UCLA & Notre Dame, however with this acceptance I wouldn’t feel nearly as bad if I get rejected knowing I could go to Florida!!! congrats all!!! An honor.
Yes I know UCLA/ND biiiiiig reach for me. Haha.
Does anyone know the statistics for international admissions?
I’m not sure if I was counted as international but I’m here on a visa. Even if I’m a Florida resident, USF counted me as international so I’m not sure if UF did the same
I have a friend that got into the PACE program, its still a thing.
I was accepted to UF for fall!
Still have received no email though…
So this puts UF about equal to U. Miami and University of Texas for admissions rate. Dropping every year!
Hey I got in to innovation academy! Can someone explain exactly what innovation academy is? Do I still have the option of going for the summer/fall term? Did I get offered innovation academy because I wasnt admitted to summer/fall? I just applied for it cuz it looked cool lol.
@noochilised See the following thread. The student newspaper did a nice series on IA. It’s not for everyone.

@noochilised You can’t switch out unfortunately, at least I don’t think so. The ones who’ve said they’ve tried weren’t able to.
@shumpu123 For UF, international students as defined in their website are those non citizens and permanent residents holding J-1 or F-1 visa.
My kid applied as an international student and they have admission counselors in charge of international applicants.
Accepted OOS!!
30ACT
3.87UW
so pumped!!
Has anyone received an email from UF admissions yet? It said in the notification that they would send an email pertaining some important info.
KiaraBabi, congrats on your acceptance, I had a good feeling about you getting in. I’ll bet they loved your essay along with your ECs. Are you going to accepted students days at UF, FSU or anywhere else?
I know my son is planning to do accepted students days at FSU, UCF and UF before he makes his final decision. I told him to go to all three with an open mind before deciding!
@Trisherella Thank you! And I plan on going to UF and FSU’s Preview. I already registered for FSU’s. Now I’m waiting for UF to open their registration.
I do not live in Florida but upon my acceptance was planning on making the trip to UF with my dad to see the school. Instead would the better opportunity to really get a feel for UF be in going to accepted students day?
UF has accepted student days? I know they do one for engineering students (or have in the past). UF is bad about communicating these things…
If you do go, I don’t recommend you attend a general admissions tour. Most of it will be about how to get into UF. I do recommend the college specific tours (like engineering). You really want to meet other students, especially in your major. You can also contact an advisor in your college and ask for a meeting (and to sit in on a class or two).
Keep in mind that UF does require enrolled students attend an orientation session (Preview) on campus (usually 2 days and 1 night). Dates have not yet been set, but it’s usually in June (Summer B’s orientation is earlier)…
@nduclaunc When you say accepted students day do you mean Preview? If so, I’d suggest coming to UF on a separate day if you really want to get a feel for the school because Preview is very rushed and there are tons of things you do throughout the day. Everything goes by so quickly during Preview and there’s little down time so visiting UF on another day to see the school would be best (in my opinion).
@Gator88NE If you’re undecided, can you still go to Preview?
