Johns Creek, Georgia

The only reason why I applied is because UGA is well-known and has a good education. I’m not liking the whole party rep at all ugh.

maybe International Business… or maybe even Psychology. not sure yet

mevans414 - My freshman student tells me that if you want to party every weekend night, you can, but certainly not everyone does and it is tamer than they expected. UGA offers some great benefits to students with AP credit that many schools limit.

I’m from Massachusetts and I’m applying to UGA. You’re right, it WAS the easiest application ever!! And me, being the idiot that I am, already wrote all 4 of the short essays because I had only looked at the PDF file of the application. Grr. Haha, well if I get deferred I’ll be all set… So stupid of me haha.

I’m not much of a partier either, but I do know about the huge party reputation at UGA. The thing is though, the school is just so large it’s not even one of my concerns. Everyone’s bound to find their group. I wouldn’t even stress about it! :)

Exactly one month to go.
Three brave applicants.

Is it the “stat-free” thing? Go ahead and shout out your GPA/SAT/ACT then.
Come on CC. Show some southern hospitality and say “Hello”.

Howdy there! How’s that for southern hospitality ;)

Another GA resident here. I also applied because it had a VERY easy application…and plus I’m in state. I’m probably going to do Psychology or Education or maybe both.

Kaylala, it’s good to see someone with the same interests! Maybe we will see each other at UGA. December 15th can’t get here soon enough. Hopefully it will be my first acceptance!

Oh my gosh, I’m loving the whole “stat-free zone” thing haha…exactly 21 days to go!! Good Luck!
UGA is such a great school and has a beautiful campus. Plus it really did have the easiest application ever. How could I NOT apply to UGA?
I’m actually in North Carolina so its between UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State and UGA. I’d like to major in Nutrition/Dietetics. We’ll see, I guess!
Do you think we could find out before Dec 15? Because like you guys said, it can’t come soon enough :)

KatyScarlet - From the admissions blog: “Again, I do not know exactly which date it will be, but you should expect the status check decisions to be released on a Friday afternoon in mid-December.” I think UGA will release admissions decisions after
5:00 PM on December 11th or 18th. You can expect delays getting in to the status check due to the high volume of people trying to log on.
[Advice about the UGA Admission Process: Early Action Deadline](<a href=“<data:blog.pageTitle/>”><data:blog.pageTitle/>)
Hope you get to see the fireworks display which appears if you have been accepted EA.

Checked that blog and found this from the AdCom author to an anonymous poster:

Anon2: I am still not sure about the exact date for the EA decisions, but we are shooting for the Dec. 11 date. This is a Friday, and we generally open up the status check late Friday afternoon in mid-December for EA. I can not promise this date, but it is my best guess right now.

I am from Georgia and applied to UGA and Emory for transfer this spring! Chances are pretty good I wont get the financial aid from Emory that I am shooting for, so I can always count on UGA for a free HOPE education and a darn good one at that :D

I hear there is an optional dorm for all honors students at UGA, I think that would awesome if I could get into the honors dorm. It would be like going to Emory :D

As we have just posted on our Status Check page, we plan on releasing Early Action decisions on Dec. 11 in the early-evening/late-afternoon time period (unless some random act of nature strikes!). As such, you do not need to pull up the status check every day next week, hoping and praying that it will show up early, as it will not. In fact, we have to shut the Status Check down, starting today, so we can move forward with the EA decisions for Dec. 11.

I will publish a new post next week about the EA decisions and how you should react, but for now, just be patient for one more week. I also plan on posting the stats for the EA applicants that we send out in a press release every year, just so you know what the group looks like.

Remember, overall decisions for Early Action applicants are not easier or harder than for Regular Decision applicants. The only difference is time lines and when you hear, and many times (deferred EA students), these two factors still end up being the same. As I have said before, though, admission decisions that are made in December are more competitive (as seen by the strength of the deferred group), but the overall or final decisions are equal. In other words, an EA deferred applicant is treated the same (no better, no worse) that an RD applicant, and a number of RD applicants are admitted in February based upon meeting EA criteria. So EA and RD are truly treated the same, just with different time lines (and for those EA admits, I know you love not having to do part II).

EA applicant from Tennessee. Hoping to major in journalism. I applied to Georgia, well… I’m not really sure why. But I liked the campus and I’m excited to see the decisions!
