How many international applicants does UIUC engineering accept during priority filling?

I’m applying for Biochemistry @ LAS

why isn’t uMich this smart? xD

i am a current freshman at UIUC…good luck everyone…

what i heard is that if the major u r applying for disappears, then maybe you are being offered another major. i remember, last year, my major remained intact and did not disappear. but my friends, disappeared and when he got accepted he was offered another major!!!

one more thing…login to the app status page well before 4pm CT. the page freezes due to multiple hits. last year, they put another link and we had to go there to check the decision…

GG -_-. I don’t want to go to UIUC for anything other than biz…Q.Q

balhbalh ~ Thanks so much for the info. Is it possible that if your major disappears that you could have been deferred or denied as well? Or do you think it just means that you have been accepted under your alternate major? My daughter’s intended major has disappeared, so just wondering what this means. At least we will know in a few hours.

My daughter would be so disappointed not to get her top choice major, but she also knows it is one of the most competitive majors at UIUC. Does anyone know if she gets accepted into her alternate major, would she still get considered for her first choice major if room becomes available? UIUC was the second campus visit we took her on, and she just loves the college, but she wouldn’t go there unless she got her first choice major because that is the only thing she wants to study in college. Her first choice major does not allow any transfer into the program either, so if she doesn’t get into her first choice, she would have to unfortunately cross UIUC off her list.

Since I don’t believe we have heard from anyone whose major has not disappeared, I am guessing there isn’t anything to worry about specific to that change on the website.

Thanks for the return to sanity :)

Yes, tpakeltis, thanks for the return to sanity! At least everyone will have their answer in a few hours!

@ladyham…i am not sure. all i know is one of my friends was offered another major!
btw, what is the major she applied to?

I’m not sure the absence of major/program means anything.

The status page looks different from prior years. My older DS was deferred in round one a few years back and accepted in different major in round 2. But like I said, the screen looks different this year.

Younger DS’s status line used to say “Status Complete” and now the entire line is gone.
His stats are stronger than older student.

@samantha…for me too last year the “status” line disappeared altogether and on the decision day it came back…

dont think too much…decision time not too far away…good luck

Exactly, balhbalh. That’s why I wouldn’t jump to conclusion that it means a different major. I think those decisions are often made round 2.

@balhbalh ~ She applied to bioengineering with chemical engineering as her alternate choice.

also see the blog here about majors disappearing…if you have not already done so…

[U of I Admissions: Blog Blog Archive Priority admission decisions are coming soon!](http://blog.admissions.illinois.edu/?p=12898)

so… whats the final verdict? does it disappearing mean that we’re getting offered another major? -_-

You will know in 3 hours:)

If you look at the responses at the bottom, you will see this from the admissions counselor in response to the question about disappearing majors:

"…as admissions decisions are being loaded into the computer we have to remove some of the information from public view. Do not worry, this is a normal part of the process. Good luck!"

Before this year, they didn’t blank out the Program, so if an alternate program was offered as opposed to the applicant’s first choice, they could see that for days before the decision release date. I believe they wised up this year and blanked out both fields until 4pm cst today.

so… this is so dead that its sad -_-… UIUC is a relatively huge state school and nobody is posting here even tho its <1/2 hr away from decisions
