Last year they automatically considered applicants for merit based scholarships. Can’t speak about this year though. @ad93107
@infiniteCircle agreed–> no more “chance me” questions!!!
@ad93107 Yes, they will automatically consider you for merit-based scholarships.
@infiniteCircle Oh okay thanks…is there any way i check ?
I wont be applying for need based but wanted to apply for merit based scholarships
@infiniteCircle I know decisions are literally 4 days away (ahhhhh) but can u give me an idea of how my decision will look like so I am prepared. I applied comp sci.
30 act, 1990 sat, 3.0 uw, 3.99w, all honors (had a C in chem once bc it was the schools fault of not providing a teacher)/ 3 ap classes( that’s all that’s offered), oos (in boston), excellent recs + essay
@monkeybunny4211 If you applied for CS in CoE I would say that both the ACT and GPA especially are too low for acceptance. OOS is especially competitive. But anything could happen so you’ll just have to wait.
@infiniteCircle How’s the housing and gym ? As in, which residence halls are closer to the cs classes etc. and how comfortable are they ? And do cs students get time to lift or is the coursework too stressful
@ad93107 ISR is the closest residence hall to the engineering quad and thus closest to where CS classes are held. I live in ISR right now and it’s an older dorm but I honestly have no complaints. It’s comfortable and it has all the necessary features. Next year I’ll be staying at another dorm that is further from the engineering quad but it is a much nicer dorm that was built less than a year ago. We have a really good bus system so travel isn’t a big deal. On campus there are two recreational facilities, CRCE, which is the smaller of the two and features a pool, basketball courts, a running track, and workout equipment, is quite nice and close to ISR. The ARC is the second and it is absolutely huge. It has countless basketball courts, lots of equipment, indoor and outdoor pool, rock climbing wall, and lots of other stuff. I believe the ARC is the largest recreational facility in Illinois if that puts it’s size to scale for you. In terms of coursework, I’m only a first semester freshman and the workload right now is mediocre, but in the coming semesters it’ll get much tougher, but, of course, it’s always possible to make time for certain activities if you put aside others.
By the way, as a confirmation to what I said before, decisions come out on December 16th at 4pm CST. Here’s a quote by Kaci, an Illinois Admissions Counselor, “Decisions will be released after 4 p.m. (Central Standard Time) on the 16th.”
Does anyone know if all the decisions come at once or do they release them in waves like other schools.
@madman1923 Pretty sure they release them all at once
@infiniteCircle Thanks for the taking the time out to answer all these queries.
I think it’s really nice of you to do so.
No problem.
S just got a reminder email (as if he needed a reminder). Confirmed that decisions will be out after 4pm Friday. I’m assuming thats Central Time.
I also got the reminder. Just to be sure, did everyone who applied for EA get the reminder?
@VirajKumar I also got the reminder email. I think everyone who applied EA received it.
Good luck and crash the site! Decisions tend to be available somewhat before the stated time-they were in February, and probably in past years if you dig around on this site.
I got an email too!
Do they also email the admissions or is the only way to check on the portal?
I think only portal and then they send out acceptance letters in the mail. Please correct me if I am wrong.
