UIUC class 2020 thread

February 5th will be here in no time. Good luck everyone!

Ditto!! It’s my son’s first choice for computer science…counting down the weeks!

Are you oos? We are!

@s16s18s21s25 I remember seeing you at PSU thread. Congrats to your son for being accepted to a couple schools already!

Thanks! He’s got 3 acceptances so far. He did NOT get into COE at OSU though–they admitted him a exploration, which was unexpected. Hoping UIUC really values a one-day high test score as opposed to a super high GPA evidencing four years of hard work… :stuck_out_tongue:

Hope we hear great news soon!!

I am also applying to UIUC. The deadline is midnight CST on December 1. What does the midnight mean,…the midnight between November 30 and December 1 or the midnight between December 1 and December 2?
Please reply as early as possible as it is very urgent.

@Barcelona17 I believe It means 11:59 pm of December 1st.

Hey guys! Can someone chance me for UIUC? I am in state applying to mechanical engineering!

Weighted GPA: 4.05
Unweighted GPA: 3.67
ACT: 31 (30 English, 34 math, 32 reading, 28 science)

School does not have class rank because there are over 1000 in my class, but I’m guessing I’m in the top 15 or top 10 percent

AP classes:
Junior year: AP Calc BC (5 on AP test), AP English Language and Composition (4 on AP test)
Senior year: AP Physics C, AP Spanish, AP Macroeconomics
(ALSO TAKING CALCULUS 3 SENIOR YEAR)

ECs:

-I’ve been on two mission trips to Juarez to build homes for families and one mission trip to Guatemala, and also two to Kentucky
-Job at Chipotle
-Church youth band
-Spanish Honors society (10th 11th and 12th grades)
-Tri M Music Honors society (11th grade)
-Baseball for my school 10th grade

If I submitted my application 3-4 hours late, how screwed am I?

**5 hours late lol

@oreolover123 I think it is best to call admission office ASAP this morning. Good luck!

Chance me pls!

UW GPA: 3.7
W GPA: 3.99
ACT: 32C (35M 33S 31E 27R)
Pretty good essays
Lots of EC and volunteer work
2 leadership positions
OOS (MI) - I go to the number 2 public school in MI

Applied for Aerospace Engineering

Oh also 11 AP classes including senior yr
Was placed into double-advanced math starting from 6th grade so in 9th grade I took Precalculus Honors, then 10th Calc BC, then AP stats, then now Calculus 3

@Umichplspls Just for a perspective…did you get into UMich?

What other schools have you gotten into so far?

If you don’t want to list publicly, then feel free to pm me

@ChicagoSportsFn He was unfortunately deferred. Although he did not get in, there is still hope for regular admissions.

@AcceptableName Ouch. Seems like his stats would get him into UMich straight up. UIUC may be difficult then for aerospace eng if UMichplspls got deferred.

@ChicagoSportsFn The average high school UW GPA is a 3.9 and the average ACT for engineering is a 33. He fell just a little short on both of them. They are also unpredictable. I was just admitted for computer science through LSA with a 28 ACT.

Hi guys! I am a freshman in computer science in the college of engineering; feel free to message me if you have any questions! I applied by the Dec 1st deadline last year and I know how stressful the process was, so I’ll be happy to help!

@bubbles12 Don’t suppose you’ve heard anything about the number of applicants for CS this year? S has a 35 C (incl 36M/35S), about a 3.7/4.1 with 11 APs and several strong CS ECs. UIUC is his first choice–he did the WYSE program last summer there. I watched the applicant thread last year and it looked pretty tough to get in. Any inside info/random gossip about applicant numbers? Thanks!
