This is the official University of Maryland, College Park Transfer Thread. Post with your questions and stats. Good luck! I'm not sure how many of you are there are on CC.

I applied. I heard some people already got in, so I’m a little bit worried.
Transferring from CC in MD. 3.8 GPA, 2 Honors Programs. Chemistry major.
Hopefully I’ll get in.

I got accepted a few weeks ago I’m not sure if I’m going there yet. I also applied for the TAES scholarship so I’m waiting to hear back about that.

I had a 3.7. Graduating with my A.A. in May. English major. Honors program at a community college.

Have either of you heard anything? I just found out that I’m accepted at St. Mary’s College of Maryland so I am going to have a hard time deciding. On Friday I’ll know my scholarship status at SMCM and UMD is pending.

I’ll find out from UMD in mid april. My guess is that you found out much earlier because you have completed your A.A and get automatic acceptance. I actually go to smcm.

I know you do I thought I was automatically accepted but it turns out there is a loophole so that I don’t. I still recieve priority though I believe.

Still haven’t heard anything. I called yesterday that my application was in fact complete (I had a little mishap with them as a HS senior which screwed me). The guy said that it is, and that I should here back soon… he wouldn’t specify when soon is.

I applied as a transfer at the end of January. I called admissions a couple days ago and they told me that I would hear back this week or the next. I’m pretty excited to say the least.

Also, regarding having an associates, I went and talked to one of their pre-transfer advisors and she told me that if you have an A.A. then your actually put into a whole different category than all of the other applicants. In other words, rather then competing with a couple thousand people you’ll be competing with three to four hundred.

@jsull12 That’s pretty neat about the A.A.

Hey can anyone help me? I am in my second semester at PGCC and I got a 3.69 in my first semester (16 cred completed). Taking alot of general courses. Does anyone know if Maryland community colleges get priority over other schools. Also, does being black give me a good chance of acceptance? Do I even have a good chance of getting in at all?

Yes, Maryland community colleges do get priority. There’s actually a program out there called MTAP (Maryland Transfer Advantage Program) that guarantees you an acceptance if you have over 30 credits and above a certain GPA. You do have to apply a semester in advance to the program though. Also, if you went to a Maryland community college, finished your associates, and got above a 2.0 you’re guaranteed admission.

Not sure if race has anything to do with it, but your GPA seems pretty solid.

I’m applying as a transfer for this upcoming fall & haven’t heard back yet - but a few weeks ago they emailed me saying I now had access to my monthly billing statement. I followed the link in the email and you can only view your monthly billing statement with a student ID. not sure what this means… ideas?

I still haven’t paid the application fee. Not because, I don’t want to, but rather because of forgetting and my busy schedule (if thats an excuse). Will this affect my decision?

I’m sure it won’t affect your decision. Just remember to pay it eventually.

I’d guess that your application isn’t considered complete until you pay the fee. The fee is an item on their application check list.

No fee, no decision would be my assumption.

Just got accepted to UMD!

Definitely going unless I some how get into UNC/UVa/William and Mary.

Stats:
HS GPA: 3.7
SAT: 1250/1600, 1940/2400
Great EC’s

College GPA: 4.0
16 Credits
Pretty good Essay

I didn’t even have an English class and I still got accepted I’m so excited!

Also got in… but they gave me a major that I didn’t pick.
WTH?

Just checked what it meant. Apparently it’s pre-major advising.

Stats:
HS GPA: 3.5
SAT/ACT: 31

College GPA: 4.0
Major: Chemistry
58 Credits when applied

Those who accepted to UMD,

Are you accepted as MTAP program or regular decisions? I applied on March 1st priority deadline, but I haven’t got the decision yet. I applied to Smith bschool

Non-MTAP… but I’m coming from a CC in MD… but then again, I’m still considered OOS (long story). So I really don’t know if they do MTAP people first.
