Official UMD 2014 Transfer Thread

Anyone applying to UMD Spring or Fall 2014? Lets get this thread going!

College Park, I assume?

I’m looking to do an in-state transfer when Fall 2014 comes around. I’ve been accepted to MTAP (their transfer program) and have fulfilled the requirements, but I won’t be financially ready to transfer until Fall. I was thinking of starting a thread on the College Park board, but thought it might be too early. By all means, post this there.

Yes, UMCP. I am hoping to finish all the requirements for AS degree this fall and transfer Spring 2014. Lets see how it goes…

Good luck to you. I have a Pre-Transfer advising appointment for Wednesday, so hopefully it will help me plan out my next two semesters.

I’m in my first semester at AACC and I’m applying to MTAP this September. Hopefully I get in, but I don’t know how competitive the program really is. @rmelzer1986 do you know if it was difficult to get into MTAP or do they accept most students? My plan is to transfer for Fall 2014.

I applied by the March 1st deadline for Fall 2014

I am a sophomore at UMBC trying to get into UMD’s econ program
3.6 GPA (30 credits)

Interned at an advertising and public relations company in summer
Wrote a decent essay
Environmental affairs SGA for one semester
and a few other extra curriculum

Can anyone chance me or post their stats as well?

I also applied by the March 1st deadline for Fall 2014. I’m looking to major in computer science.

I’m currently at a community college in California and have 3.40 GPA (111 Credits).
I’ve been told that my essay is good but that’s pretty subjective and I’m not quite sure how to gauge the feedback I’ve been receiving about it.

EC’s/Volunteer Work:

 • Interning for a media-tech company (AdColony) since September 2013
 • Been a part of a fuel cell research group since September 2013
 • Involved in student government last year
 • Been a math tutor for a couple of years now

I’m also a first generation college student and of latin descent although I’m not sure how much that will help me.

Applied as a Sophomore for Fall 2014, but not sure what my chances are.

I am currently a student at an Florida International University and have a 3.2 GPA (14 credits). If my GPA continues this semester, I should end with roughly a 3.74 (15 credits). This would put my GPA at about a 3.5 at the end of Fall and Spring with 29 credits completed.

High School GPA was a 3.5
SAT Scores:
-600 Reading
-590 Math
-540 Writing with an 8 on the essay
1190 or 1730 Total Score

EC’s
(HS) Student Council Executive Board and Member of a Varsity Sport with Letter
(HS and College) Camp Counselor
(College) Currently Part-Time job and full-time student

Can anyone post what my chances are?

I think you have a good chance in getting in! Do your classes transfer to UMD that you took? I am pretty sure they look at that too. I think you need ENG 100 and a math class. But I am sure you will get in! The average GPA was 3.25 and coming from FIU I am sure they will take you!

Hey all, I have a quick question that hopefully someone has the answer to.

I submitted my application well before the March 1st deadline but just realized that one of my supporting documents may not have been sent until after March 1st. Does that mean that my application won’t be considered for the March 1st deadline but instead the June 1st deadline? Any insight would be great! I’m having a panic attack just thinking about it…

Which supporting document was it? Call them tomorrow about it.

It was my college transcript. I just called and they said my application wouldn’t be considered for priority T_T

@jamiewong‌ I’m pretty sure that most of my credits should transfer. I took ENC101 in the fall and got a 95 and am taking ENC102 now and i currently have a 93. I also took finite math and intro to statistics

Also, does anyone know more or less when decisions will come out? I know they say mid-April but in previous years transfer students have found out around this time

Hopefully tomorrow or Monday. Some accounts have been updated with the Housing and Dining option. That usually means decisions will follow in a day or two!

I got that form early this morning, I’m wondering if I should fill it out…I’m soooo tempted too lol

Where can you see if you got that form? If you don’t see it does that mean you’re going to be rejected?

it’s at the bottom.

What does it mean to have the form?

hopefully it’s just a glitch and doesn’t mean anything @ksbe5112‌
