I’m sure a larger percentage of those students get into UNC than my high school (Wake Couuuntyyy!), I’m actually positive of that. I think what they meant, is that they feel all of them are qualified, since they all qualified get into NCSSM in the first place, and not all of them will get into UNC or similar schools.

I couldn’t tell you how many people from my school end up at UNC…I would say we had 5-10? I know more than that were accepted, but ended up going somewhere else…like Elon, which I will never understand!

I believe I read somewhere that upwards of 70% of NCSSM’s graduating class is accepted into Carolina each year. This may be an exaggeration, but it certainly show the perception that NCSSM students generally get into UNC at a higher rate than those from other NC public high schools, but this could simply be, and probably is because, they are simply more qualified.

NCSSM students get offered full tuition from NCSSM if they attend a state school. Therefore, since most of them are qualified anyway, a lot of the students end up at UNC.

Also my high school (in Raleigh) enrolls around 70 students each year with more accepted soo I wouldn’t say a majority of the students are from NCSSM

AKV2010: I wasn’t suggesting that the majority of the UNC freshman class is from NCSSM, just that NCSSM probably sends a higher percentage of students to Chapel Hill than most other instate high schools.

corey91----why would you say (not racist just a fact) in parenthesis)… obviously you are the only thinking that because when I read the comment, i wouldn’t have thought anything of that nature until i read the comment in parenthesis. and not all urm are minorities, ethnically speaking, they could be people with low income as well. you dont have to mention that your not racist because no one asked, i feel like that was a bit unecessary :-/

just habit I suppose, it is so hard to read intentions in posts so I make sure (or try to at least) spell everything out.

I didn’t want it to sound like I was saying that those students only got in because of their race but that it probably was a factor. No biggy. :)

i feel like the only out of stater on here… wow. yeah. i applied to an ivy and vandy and a few safeties, but i am actually obsessed with unc. people get so annoyed with me cuz i’ll just randomly blurt stuff out… like “ten more days! ten more days!” or…“did you know that the firetrucks in chapel hill are baby blue” and i think everybody in my classes is anxiously awaiting the 31st so i’ll stop freaking out. haha. to the people who asked about scholarship day invites (i didnt get one… boohoo) i’m pretty sure they said that everybody is equal so in-staters and out of staters are the same.

please excuse my scree name. UNC CHAPEL HILL IS MY FIRST CHOICE AND IF I GET IN ON THE 31st I AM ENROLLING. But here’s why the date has been moved back. They have a new system and they need a big screen or they can use 2 screens to look at applications. People who do not have the right screen will only see part of the application because its not big enough because the application shows up on the screen like a book. They will only see part of the application meaning some can’t look at applications at home and other places but only in the office.

Does anyone know of a link that describes the process of transferring TO UNC Chapel Hill as a sophomore is? I tried searching on google but all I got was transfers from other UNC schools. Thanks for any infor
