I was browsing websites and discovered that UChicago was an awesome school. I figured that I should apply and then I checked the deadline only to discover that I was a day too late. Then, because I listed them on my Common App, I received an email saying that if I was interested, I could still apply and they would take applications until January 7th. I had 3 basketball games that week, so my essays were rushed and not very good pieces of work.

Congratulations to all of you that got accepted! Maybe I’ll see you in Chicago (I’m waiting a decision from Northwestern)! :)

I AM VERY VERY VERY EXCITED RIGHT NOW Seriously, I was ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN they’d bin my application as soon as they saw my GPA and financial status. Being waitlisted actually comes as an IMMENSE surprise. Now I have to really work on that letter of interest… I mean, I still don’t think I’m getting in, but I’ll do everything in my power to make it happen.

Oh, and the fact that I was rejected by Sewanee and waitlisted at DePauw only serves to amplify my disbelief. The supplement must really be hella important to UChicago.

Extended Essay: “What would you dissolve and why?” I wrote about how I would dissolve metaphorical walls to encourage growth and open peoples’ minds. Very VERY cheesy, but well-written. 7/10
Why Chicago: I wrote about how much I enjoyed the atmosphere of Chicago. Pretty standard essay. 6/10

General Comments: I had a hell of a time getting my essays together, particularly the extensive one (I ended writing on “What would you dissolve and why?”). Overall, I’m pretty happy with my application and VERY happy that I was accepted. Though UChicago is my first choice, I doubt I’ll be able to attend due to my lack of offered financial aid.
