Comments: We talked last night about the rejection and thought of reasons why it may have turned out this way. One possiblity is that she applied EA and it was one of the first applications she did. She prepared a lot of applications and they seemed to get better and more polished as she went along. Another issue may have been that no one had gone to Chicago from her school in several years so maybe Chicago thought she wouldn't actually enroll. Another possiblity was that they just didn't like her writing style. And another of my thoughts was that Chicago probably gets a lot of applicants with math/writing/Latin/music as the main interests and other people were probably stronger in each of these aspects. But of course we will never know what exactly the admissions people were thinking.
