Official University of Michigan Transfer Thread for Fall 2015

So little update…I called the Undergrad Office to confirm my app n make sure it was all good to go around the time i submitted it, which was Jan30. They confirmed that my app was completed. I’ve been checking WA religiously to make sure I have nothing missing. After the waiting game became too unbearable, I decided to call the office again in hopes that someone would be able to give me an idea of when I’d get my decision. Guess what…my app was not complete. They needed a list of the classes I was taking. This did not show up under holdings on WA and the first person I talked to at the undergrad office didn’t even catch it. But i guess this whole time while everyone’s been getting decisions, my app has just been sitting on the side…incompelte.
I am feeling extremely discouraged. I was so careful and organized with this entire application process. I feel like my chances of getting in now are significantly lowered. By the time someone reads my app, they’ll have already filled up all their spots:( UM is my dream. There is no other college I want to be at. I don’t have a back up plan. This is where I need to be. But right now I feel like it just got ripped out of my hands by some stupid system error.
Is anyone else in the position I’m in? Or do you guys have any advice?

@mganxx I don’t think your chances have been significantly lowered, its still February. I submitted my app on 1/29 and 2 days later I got my UM-ID and in that email it said that I needed to provide them with a list of classes that I was taking this semester. So I sent the email to ecredentials@umich.edu. I have chatted with someone everyday to see if they had received everything including the email I sent. They finally processed it and it was 2-3 weeks later. My app was not complete even though they said that it looked like nothing was missing. A few days ago I got an email from the credit evaluator and this was the reason why my app hasn’t been complete yet. So I think with the amount of applications the processing department has to go thru, its moving a bit slow, even admissions has said that processing has so many applications to get thru and in order for an application to be marked as complete it needs to be audited first.( I chatted with Bill Berger from admissions)

What I would say to do, is write up the email with the classes and send it to them, then chat with admissions every couple of days and see if its been processed into your application.

Don’t give up hope! Decisions are trickling in little by little, but the majority of them haven’t been sent out yet, you still have a good chance

@mganxx thank you for posting, I just realized I never sent in that list either :expressionless:

@ShuttlepilotND‌ Wouldn’t the list of classes for this semester be included in your latest transcript? Because mine are; does that still mean I have to send an email with my classss?

Also wouldn’t your classes be included with the common app? I’m worried now too. I included mine but I feel like I should call them now.

@NCXfer @transfergirl36 I had asked earlier in this thread about it and fn1518 said that it should already be included with your common app since you list it there. I am currently taking 3 classes at 3 different institutions(since 2 of the classes aren’t offered at my college) so I had forgotten to list them in the Additional Comments section. I felt that I needed to send it to clarify my schedule for this semester and where I am taking them. I don’t think fn1518 sent in the email with the courses (since he told me its in the common app) and he was still accepted.

e‌ @NCXfer‌ @transfergirl36‌ I was very specific when I listed my courses for the year. Perhaps others generalized them by not including the course number. Or their transcript didn’t include current classes. I know mine did. @ShuttlepilotND‌ ‘she’

@fn1518 @transfergirl36 @shuttlepilotND I never sent in a list of my courses outside of my common app. My classes this semester were also listed on my college transcript so that may have helped me also. However, I was still accepted and they considered about 40 of my 60 accepted credits direct equivalents, even without course descriptions.

UM’s admission process is so weird. Some things apply to certain people, and other things don’t. I also listed my current courses on the common app with the name, course number, and course instructor. For some people that was fine and for others it wasn’t.
Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear! I’m rooting for us all! Hopefully we get good news soon!
Thanks for the advice @shuttlepilotND I emailed my courses the second I got off the phone with them. Now I’m back to waiting

@mganxx‌ Hey do you know if your current semester courses are listed on the transcript you sent them? I’m wondering if they just look at that and kinda forget the courses listed on the Common App. Thanks

I just emailed them my course list as well, though I think it was on my transcript and common app. Do you guys know if the call center at the admissions office will be closed during spring break? So far under Credentials I don’t have any additional materials required, but in the app data, it says that they only have my high school transcript received, and nothing for my college. Is anyone experienced the same problem? I think I should call them some time next week or after spring break to see if my app is completed.

I submitted my app 1/30 btw.

Ya does anyone know if the office of undergraduate admissions is closed during spring break, because if its closed then no decisions will be released next week…

So WA says I have no holds and shows I have no documents required, but should I still email them my course list anyway? I included the courses in my common app, including course number etc. but I still feel like it couldn’t hurt.

Also could someone give the email address to mail it to? Would be much appreciated

I sent mine to ecredentials@umich.edu. Remember to include your full name and UM ID.

Do you guys think any of us will hear decisions if UM is on spring break this week?

@mganxx I think they will because after looking through the forums from the last two years, people were getting accepted over spring break.

I hope I’m wrong here but I kind of deduced from the UM admissions tumblr that they don’t send out decisions during spring break. Again, I hope I’m wrong though.

For those of you who have already submitted your enrollment deposit, how long did it take for you to get the housing application email? I’m just getting a little antsy about getting that done. :-/

ok guys good news. UM tumblr confirmed that they do in fact send out decisions over spring break!

did anyone get in???
