Subjective:

* Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): just average, did computer engineering work, taught myself C++, am Editor-in-Chief of my school newspaper, did research, mock trial, varsity tennis and lots of violin. Nothing outstanding or “nationally recognized”

 • Job/Work Experience: worked for a newspaper (local) and was paid, opened a small business
 • Volunteer/Community service: Minimal but some.
 • Summer Activities: Internship with Local Supreme Court and worked in a lab
 • Essays: I like to think they were great, but I think they were just kind of average.
 • Teacher Recommendation: I know one was amazing because we are incredibly close, I look up to her for everything. The other one’s probably alright.
 • Counselor Rec: I have no idea!
 • Additional Rec: -
 • Interview: Nope!

Other

* State (if domestic applicant): NY

 • Country (if international applicant):
 • School Type: Parochial, I’m the first to ever go to Penn although we’ve had Yalies and Cornellians
 • Ethnicity: Asian
 • Gender:Female
 • Income Bracket: less than 200,000 but more than 100,000
 • Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): None! I thought I was going to get a rejection for sure!

Reflection

* Strengths: None really…

 • Weaknesses: Test Scores, GPA everything?
 • Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I have no idea! I’m just so grateful have been given this chance and am astounded that I got in even though I was so underqualified! :frowning:
 • Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Pitt Honors College

General Comments: I don’t know how I got in; seeing everyone who was accepted has humbled me. I’m still kind of scared that I’ll get an email that says something along the lines of “nevermind”. :frowning: This is a prime example of someone getting in who really was not that phenomenal and I hope to give future Penn hopefuls hope that there is always hope and that you don’t need a 2400 5.79 GPA and be able to play the violin with your toes, while blindfolded to get in. I’ve never been more grateful in my life. :)

For all those who were accepted, I am excited to befriend you! For those rejected, smart intelligent people will always succeed, a school can’t change that. And for all those deferred, good luck and I hope to see you join Penn15!
