****OFFICIAL University of Pennsyvlania CLASS OF 2019 ED Applicants Discussion Thread****

@Kronik A 710 in SAT Reasoning math can be compensated with a 750+ SAT II math score. As an international student, you are generally held at higher regards (unless you’re from a very underrepresented country like Congo or something) in terms of academics and extracurriculars. I would suggest you to perhaps hit the 2200 mark to be safe!

Submitted…the waiting begins.

submitted.
when are results going to come out?

December 15th is likely, but not guaranteed. 5 pm on the day they announce.

Boys and girls, would you mind telling me if my chances of getting in Wharton ED are good? I’m from Brazil, if that counts for anything.

SAT 1: 2150- 760 CR 750 MATH 640 WR
SAT 2: 720 MATH 2; 770 PHYSICS; 800 MATH 2
GPA: My school doesn’t rank GPA, but it is around 3,3.
Rank: Top 5%.
EC: I don’t really have many ECS.
Essays: I wrote good essays, managed to show my focused areas in Wharton but I don’t have an activity that is central to my identity, as karate kids, novelists, chess players, amongst others, have.
I think that’s pretty much it.

@Duckaman‌

Pro:

From a potentially underrepresented country
Good math + cr score
Good SAT IIs and rank

Cons:

ECs - no focus or much leadership
GPA is very very low – is there a reason for this?
Overall SAT is a little low for Wharton (2250+ to be competitive)
If you need FA, then it’ll be taken into account, so your overall application will have to be stronger than that of American citizens

What do you guys think my chances are?

@benisgold Depends on what faculty you’re applying to. I’m guessing CAS for poli sci or something?

@HvePassion‌ I can’t believe I forgot to include that haha, I’m applying to CAS for math. If I get in I might double major in comp sci.

@benisgold competitive applicant for sure. But it really doesn’t matter what any of us think. All that really matters is the opinion of the admissions committee.

@HvePassion‌
I come from a very competitive school, we ranked #1 on our national exam for 3 years straight. Do you think the admission committee will see that as a reasonable explanation for my low GPA?
I won’t need FA, does that means my overall application won’t necessarily have to be stronger than those of american citizens?
Thanks for your feedback !

@Duckaman‌

Not asking for FA will put you on the same level playing field as American citizens (I think). However, as a Wharton applicant, I would strongly advise to bump that SAT score to at least 2250+. Wharton applicants usually have great if not amazing extracurriculars, so your lack of ecs may hurt you in the process.

The GPA won’t be a big deal if you are ranked in the top 5% of your school (cause that would just mean that everyone else has bad GPAs too).

@HvePassion‌
Unfortunately I already submitted my ED application, so I can’t really bump my SAT score. Anyways, thanks once again!

Just submitted earlier today. Good luck to everyone applying! I’ll post again on December 15th!

Anybody got a way to make the time go by quicker? 44 more days!

@justinn76 Stop thinking about Penn and start doing your other supplements?
