Who else is applying to SEAS

Just submitted my ED app! So nervous

And now we wait for what seems like ages…

hey if we’re applying ED and the deadline’s nov.1, do our teacher recs have to get there by nov.1 as well? or can they submit it later because my teachers/counselor haven’t submitted on common app yet and i’m not sure if i should go push them to hurry a little

My son has already submitted an application for RD. He wants to apply for ED (This is first college choice) can we change the application? His SAT score is 2130 (CR&M - 1460); perfect score in three SAT subject tests (C, B & Math II). His both essay’s are good. Does he have a chance in ED? There is no way I pay his college admission fee of $70K (all inclusive). How accurate is the Net Price calculator in CSS? I wanted to avoid taking risk…

If your financial need is not met, you can have him refuse ED.

Penn does not care if a student is ED or RD, if they are admitted they get the same package either way.

Don’t just wait by the way, look into EA schools just in case. My son is applying to Penn ED, two schools EA, and has an ED2 lined up “just in case”.

Hello Everyone, I’m a senior applying to Wharton School ED.
I came to US 5 years ago, but since I didn’t have greencard yet, I think I’m still counted as international students.
I have a strong GPA, 4 unweighted, 10 or so AP classes taken through my high school year. Probably Top 1-2% for my school. Took AP Calculus AB and BC 10th, 11th grade year. Taking AP Statistics now.
SAT I isn’t that good, 620 CR, 800M, 550 Writing, but I took the second one this October, and I think I can get to about 2100 at least.
SAT II I took Math II and Physics, 800 for each.
I didn’t have much leadership or EC, because I struggled with English for first few years, although I took AP English 11 and 12. I attended a few clubs, but not the leadership position, which could hurt my chance.
I volunteered quite a bit, about 300 hours or so, but no work experience because of Visa Status.
I’m pretty certain for two good Recommendation from Math/English teacher.
How do you guys think about my profile, is it relatively weak compared to others.
Do you think they might overlook my EC or SAT I score somewhat because I need to catch up English and such?
Hope someone would help me…

My family has a low income, about $40,000 a year. We should have enough to go 4 year in Wharton without FA, but I’m still thinking about applying for it, although it will hurt my chance to get in, any suggestions?

If you are international, that is, not a US citizen, and not a Mexican or Canadian citizen because Penn treats them like US citizens due to NAFTA I guess, yes they consider FA when deciding to accept your app or not.

To be honest, if your family is low-income but can afford to pay $240,000 in four years (6 times your family’s gross annual income according to your post), you would be better off not applying for FA.

If your SAT improved, you will be in better shape. ECs will matter, make sure you include your volunteer work.

They would not overlook your SAT score, and certainly not your ECs, due to being ESL. Unless your language/nationality is very very rare in the US, one would think you could have been doing ECs within your cultural community. If your volunteer work progressed, make sure to mention that.

OMG…You guys are crazy…Now I feel like I have less than 1% to get in…I am applying for Wharton ED =((

Hello @Wharton18, your post is the most comforting one after I went over all the previous ones. Thank you!

Submitted…now all I do is wait. I’m going to be nervous for the month and three weeks. Good luck to everyone still working on their applications!

I’ve just found out that you need to send both SAT and ACT scores if you have taken both…

I’ve had my ACT scores sent in last month, but I don’t have my SAT scores in yet! Is it too late to send them in now?! Will I make the deadline? Will they allow a grace period for it being late, or is it sent nearly instantly because it’s electronic?

Thank you so much!

@allenplay: On the applicant homepage, it says “We will continue to process other materials as they arrive after the deadline, such as teacher recommendations and test scores.”

Submitted my ED App to SEAS last night. Can you say nerve wracking?

Just submitted my application guys!!! O:-) ; =D>

and so the wait begins. Just submitted!!

I’m an international student applying ED to Penn SEAS but I’m worried because I got a 710 Math score. Is that enough for Penn engineering? I scored 710 in Writing and 660 in Reading (2080 total)

Funny that you know, but the Penn website doesn’t note it and neither did Dean Furda.
