****OFFICIAL University of Pennsyvlania CLASS OF 2019 ED Applicants Discussion Thread****

@HvePassion I agree with you. My interview was also more informative. The interviewer told me a lot about her experience at Penn. So I think interview doesn’t really count a lot in the admissions process.

Congrats to everyone who received likely letters! Is this something we should be looking for on our penn account, email, or is this actually a physical letter in the mail?

Email most likely.

Yeah I honestly think interviews are more of a service to students and a way to make alumni feel involved. Haha my penn interviewer didn’t even like penn that much. When I asked her what were her favourite parts about penn, she took awhile to respond.

@szh1103: Penn’s Likely letters are NOT formal acceptance letters. Those go out either in December (ED) or late March (RD). The purpose of LLs is discussed here (although on the Yale forum, the info also applies to Penn):

Not applying to UPenn but friend of mine just received a likely letter. Recruited athlete from the south.

Thanks for your clarification!

My Penn portal just updated and both my SAT scores and ACT scores are included in the receipt now, which is a relief because before they were on the receipt and then magically dissappeared. Did that happen to you guys too?

@lenayd I got my sat scores and act scores but i didn’t take the act so why is it there???

@NewportHSSenior‌ same for me. Btw does it show as received on the 19th of november for you guys?

@Remi56783 It also says received on Nov. 19th for me too! Did you also not take the ACT??

yeah it was received on the 19th for me too. @NewportHSSenior it says SAT 1 and 2/ ACT with Writing for me and I took both the SAT 1 and the ACT plus writing. I think it’s their way of just saying they received your test scores for whatever test you took. There are two options for Penn: SAT 1 and two SAT 2s or ACT plus Writing, so by them saying they received your SAT 1 and 2/ ACT means that they got your scores for either option you chose when you applied, if I’m not mistaken. I wonder why they received them so late? Scores came out a while ago…

Ok thanks @lenayd !! i guess it takes a really long time to process the numerous test scores that they receive. My friend applied to a college and sent her scores around Oct. 17 but her college hasn’t received her ACT scores until today!!

hey guys! I submitted my application on oct 31st but I haven’t been contacted for an interview yet. I live on Long Island so there are a lot of alumni around here…should I be worried?

Has any of you guys’ counselors mailed documents to Penn? My SAT scores finally got updated but my transcripts and stuff still haven’t :(

They updated the portal and the test scores disappeared for a little bit but then they returned yesterday because that’s the final day that test scores are accepted from the October ACT date. I sent my test scores in mid October and they were recieved at that date, and then they disappeared and they are now back. Don’t worry, they have your scores.

Haven’t gotten an M&T interview yet…does anyone know if there are alums in the MA/RI/CN area?

Yes there are. I had mine this past week. Interview reports are due next week so if you haven’t been contacted yet then you probably don’t have one @figuresk8ter07‌

I noticed that the re-post of the SAT/ACT scores are in a different format from before. Since Penn required entire testing history, I submitted my 2 SAT 1 scores, my like 5 SAT subject 2 scores, and my ACT score. Now, instead of showing all of them and their respective dates, the portal just has “SAT I & 2 SAT IIs, ACT with writing”. Do you guys see the same change? Is this because they have already super scored our SAT I and chosen our 2 highest subject tests?

@BlueOreos‌ I believe you are correct. I think they way they changed the formatting means that they have taken your best test score/combination of test scores and that’s what they’re using to evaluate you.
