****OFFICIAL University of Pennsyvlania CLASS OF 2019 ED Applicants Discussion Thread****

@LazyJayz The Penn interview page says

I wouldn’t worry about whether your evaluator did his part. If he forgot his write-up then Penn would likely follow up with him and see what has happened. Anyway, the post-interview survey isn’t something everyone gets.

Does anybody know if Penn has announced when exactly the ED decisions will be released? I know it’s usually around December 15th or so, but has Penn made an official announcement about the specific time yet? Thanks

Is it possible to update our applications?

@puzzled123‌ yes. I think you need to email the admissions office. Only do it if it’s going to add something tremendously important in your application. It might not be worth it to add something this late in the application. What is it you want to send?

Hi, I’m an international student applying for early decision and I have an interview today via Skype. Any tips?

@nedlogtels‌ Judging from your past posts, haven’t you already received a likely letter for cornell? But to answer your question, just be relaxed, confident, make good eye contact and be prepared with lots of good questions to ask your interviewer!

To prepare myself for my decision I have assumed that I will be denied. I thought it was less risky because there is a 90% chance I will be unsuprised and mostly unaffected by my decision and a 10% chance that I will scream out of joy. Seemed safer for my sanity lol.
Just wondering, do you guys think that being a girl applying for engineering will help at all? I know it’s a major advantage at a lot of schools but I don’t know if Penn really cares what percent of their engineering students are girls.

Yes, Penn really cares:

I know some ED schools ask for first quarter grades, does Penn require or encourage it?

@BlueOreos‌ yea penn asks for first quarter grades. They requested them from my school already

@"45 Percenter"‌ That’s really nice to see! Though I will have to resist allowing it to raise my hopes too much lol. Thanks!!

Thanks @Wharton2020 How did you know that they requested first quarter grades? Did Penn email you, or did your school inform you about it?

My school told me that they had been requested and sent.

Oh I see, thanks

penn only asks for first quarter grades from some students, not all.

@BlueOreo @Wharton2020 Penn only requests first quarter grades from some students. Usually, they just need the midyear report which is due around February, after the decisions come out.

According to what Penn says on its offical website, if you are admitted in ED round, mid-year report is not required.

@antsyapplicant‌ @allhailjoebiden‌ why does Penn request first quarter grades from some students but not all? Is it good or bad if they didn’t request mine?

@lalalalilly Penn usually might request first quarter grades from an applicant if that person’s GPA was lower or if they wanted to see if the applicant slacked off in senior yr (how they are doing)- at least that’s what I would guess. So personally, if they didn’t ask for your grades, it would be a good sign that you aren’t causing them to wonder about how you are doing senior yr grade wise. Hope this kind of helps!!

Hey guys! I just got to know from someone that Penn will be rolling out decisions on 11th December. fingers crossed
Also, what are you guys doing to prepare yourself for the decision or to stop thinking about it. I have my mid-year exams in 6 days and I can’t stop thinking about the decision. Makes me really nervous and I’m unable to study because of it. Any tips?
