****OFFICIAL University of Pennsyvlania CLASS OF 2019 ED Applicants Discussion Thread****

Those who took the November SAT I/II: Have your scores been updated yet? My portal still says that the date that scores were received is November 19th.

Same thing here @justinn76 I got the highest standardized test scores in my school but it’s not good enough for Penn haha… Well, I guess we’ll all see what happens on December 15

In Canada, the lowest lowest score expected is around a 2180~

I got a 2260 and felt good about my score, until I went on CC and saw me classmates getting 2300+ :/

@HvePassion Do you think Canadian citizens not applying from Canada would be judged from amongst Canadians or the country they’re applying from?

@MalikBhai‌ Urm, well if you’re studying in another country, you will be compared to students from that country I suppose (because of curriculum etc). However, FA would be different for you because you are Canadian. However, internationals (even if you’re canadian or Mexican) are usually held in higher regards in terms of sat scores and ecs.

@MalikBhai‌ @HvePassion‌ Fellow canadian here! How many canadians do you guys think applied? and Malik, I also am canadian but live abroad and I believe we will be compared against other Canadians, although I am unsure.

Btw do you guys think they finalized all decisions? or are they still deciding for some people?

@Remi56783 @Hvepassion I actually immigrated to Canada a few years back and came out with a citizenship. I did my whole high school in my home country so yeah. Dunno, anything’s possible. Applicants from my home country aren’t any less competitive than the others so apart from finances, everything’s the same.

@Remi56783‌ A LOT. I know around 10 just in my area. I imagine there are at least 200-300 Canadians vying for spots. Penn is too popular of an ivy…that’s why I am so apprehensive. Even competition for Yale here is less competitive haha.

@HvePassion‌ 200-300 is not that bad though. I would imagine it being more. They took 65 Canadians last year overall so that worst case scenario gives a 20% acceptance rate which can’t be right. Unless of course you meant only for the ED round which in that case, it is not looking too good for us…

Penn is probably popular among Canadians because to its financial aid policies and I agree, I’m getting more nervous by the second…

@MalikBhai Don’t worry. You’re in already, I’m pretty sure! Good luck.
I hope we’re not being considered in the same pools. That’ll give me some hope :p

@cstbzksfmgv Bhenss, bao competition hai, man. Sort of regret going Wharton.
And I’m certain you’re in. You’re credentials clearly outstrip mine. Here’s to hoping SICAS can pull off an acceptance too. :P

Hahaha, I’ve applied for aid. International student applying for aid. Chances don’t get any slimmer than that.
You should be all set for an acceptance, man! Ho jaye ga In Shaa Allah.
About the credentials part, I don’t think so :stuck_out_tongue:
And I have a gut feeling that SICAS will have some pretty solid admissions this year. Heard a guy got a 2400 recently.

“They took 65 Canadians last year overall so that worst case scenario gives a 20% acceptance rate which can’t be right.”

I do not know, but I think it is possible that it is right. It seems to me that Canadians applying to Penn would be a pretty self selecting group that probably has fewer poorly qualified applicants who are just “taking a shot at it” than the pool of American applicants might have, so a higher rate may not be unreasonable.

Btw, any other Pakistani applicants here?

Still, man. Penn would be lucky to have a guy like you. Aid should become irrelevant.
Khair I guess we’ll find out in T minus 287 hours.
InshAllah everyone would make it through.
Good luck!
p.s. the guy had a perfect SAT II.

I’m stuck between assuming I won’t get in so I’m not devastated by rejection but then I remember that I truly love Penn and want this so bad I can’t stop thinking about it. Such a mix of feelings :-S

Hahaha, that’s for them to decide but I certainly hope they echo your thoughts!
Really hope that both of us get admitted. Heavy yainnn :stuck_out_tongue:
The T minus 287 hours thing is looming over my head now. It’s so difficult to study for exams with all the pressure. Have my econ exam in a few hours and I only just started macro
Good luck to you too! In Shaa Allah we’ll all make it through.

@justinn76 I’m sure that’s how everyone’s feeling right now, including myself. One moment, I’m preparing myself for bad news and another, I’m thinking maybe just maybe it might be good news. I think this is the most uncertain we’ve ever been about anything. Even test scores are much more predictable than this. I guess, you should find something to keep yourself busy and get your mind off this. Start reading a book, watch some tv show etc. I’d recommend watching House of Cards if you haven’t watched it already. Absolutely brilliant show. I’ve got exams these days so that has got me thinking less about this than I would have otherwise.
