so if they have yet to update my portal with November SAT II’s, does that indicate rejection?

^I really hope not

About SAT IIs…I got a 540 on spanish with listening HAHA is that bad -___-

It’s not one of my top two scores though so does it really matter that much?

@gabrielle16 people need to stop trying to predict their decision based on the portal. My GC said college portals are so bad, one year a college gave up on its portal and just sent out emails about who had what instead. Stop worry, it means nothing

@pianogeek I wouldn’t worry about it language tests are notoriously hard for non-native speakers. Anything 600+ish is considered good if you’re not a native speaker, so 540 is not a big deal if its not one of your top 2. Also, I believe SAT IIs don’t matter that much in admission anyway.

@Bailkun ew that sucks. Before we got new directors the teachers met monthly to make sure no one scheduled 2 tests in one day or IA’s at the same time. It was great. Then we lost our full time director 2 years ago (budget cuts) so now these 3 are trying to do it while teaching then they blame their failures on the students. Thank goodness the IB teachers see through it and are on our side. Sounds like both of our schools need to get their crap together lol. As far as my EE and IA’s: my history IA is basically done because we got a month in class last year and we get another 2 weeks this year. My math IA is done and turned in. TOK essay is after winter break. My EE is on physics and your topic makes mine look like an IA XD. I am doing physics. Periodic motion and magnetism. Using magnets attempting to simulate a greater acceleration of gravity on pendulums with iron bobs.

I’m not sure if this was already mentioned, but does anyone know if we get notified via postage mail or e-mail?

@olasko Your message is VERY comforting dude…I think I fit the Huntsman mold pretty well. Good luck!

Hello. I sent in a pdf of some additional materials to the documents email (and a couple other emails actually) a month ago after I turned in my ED application. Penn admissions told me to not ask them for materials. They will notify me if I’m missing anything…but the additional materials was just something I wanted them to see…felt kind of important. I sent it to the right emails but they didn’t confirm that they have it…they should have right?

@WindyCitay you will be able to log into your penn portal on december 15 at 5 pm and view your decision.

@ThePariah yes they should. I sent in a supplement recommendation and recording and on the website, it says anything supplementary cannot be confirmed received.

Remember~ don’t fret over chances now! If anything it will jinx you!

So, who want to be a pre-med? me!

Yeah! Let me know if you have any questions. I’m absolutely blessed to have had a lot of contact through a friend in the program, and got alot of stuff when I met the directors. I feel like a good fit. Also, if you applied with a critical language (russian, chinese, arabic or german, or hindi because its less common) that s a big plus! they have alot of spanish french and japanese currently so theyre trying to diversivy language… especially german and russian

last comment was for @bigbadbull

Just a quick legacy question for anyone who will answer. Does grandparent legacy count for less than parent legacy? Or is it all weighted the same? Two of my grandparents attended Penn but neither of my parents did. I asked this question at one of the “First Friday” information sessions at Penn earlier this fall but they never gave me a straight answer.

@dialogueeditor1 From what I understand regarding legacy admissions, basically they just confirm you’re a legacy via your application and “check a box.” There’s no real consideration of “how much of a legacy” you are rather just if you are one at all.

How do everyone’s grading scales work (regarding the 4.0 scale)? Our school just does A=4, B=3, so forth, with A being 90+, B 80+, C 74+ and D 70+.

Curious as to how it is around the nation, based on some of the GPAs you guys are talking about.

Anyone want to give me a quick chance? I know you guys hate seeing this stuff, but it’s important to me. Applied ED to CAS:

SAT 1: 2250 (770 M, 750 CR, 730 W)
No ACT
SAT 2 (I hear they don’t matter much): (740 Biology M, 660 Chem, 640 M2)
Extremely solid counselor rec, and excellent teacher recs. counselor Rec from my headmaster, and also an additional rec from my dean of students (very good).

I am a Pakistani, as well as the Senior Prefect (head boy) at a boarding school in Maryland, and I’m a U.S. Citizen.

Essay: excellent (about Neuroscience, my intended major)

Interview: stellar. She loved me

Supplement: excellent; seemed very good according to my counselor

Lots of ECs and clubs, Cum Laude Society, hospital volunteerism, founder of international relations club, 2 varsity sport athlete, newspaper, boom science, head tour guide, peer tutor, elementary school tutor.

Chances?

@thesocialnetwork. My school is on a 7 point grading system so 93+ is A, etc…
But we also have honor classes that most people take where A=5, B=4, etc, and AP classes where A=6, B=5, etc. So we have weighted GPAs that can go beyond a 4.0 depending on the number of honors and APs we take, and unweighted GPAs that can’t be beyond a 4.0.
It’s interesting how different schools can be with GPAs. Also, I’m curious, for those of you taking IB classes, do they boost your GPA like AP classes do?

Also my GPA unweighted is a 3.89/4.0 (we don’t rank)

@TAKOBE11 SAT IIs are too low. Can you go a little more in depth about your ECs? I don’t see too much leadership or focus.
