I would try calling about the pre-med program.....Congratulations! Have you decided to attend Pitt? When did you receive your scholarship letter?

It took about a week after I received my full tuition offer before I got a letter regarding interviewing for the 8-year med prgm. I'd be patient. You should see a letter in the next week or so I'd say.

Got it today (the med guarantee letter to ask for an interview)! Man, if I get a chancellor's scholarship and get into the med program, there'd be no reason not to go to Pitt whatsoever!

anyway, for those of you still waiting for stuff, here's the timeline I received my stuff in:

acceptance--3-4 weeks after applying
honors scholarship offer-- 1 week after that
honors college packet--1 week after that
med program guarantee--2 weeks after that

Hope all y'alls are doing well. Good luck!

how do u check your application status?

qrd567: my.pitt.edu I believe

my timeline:

acceptance: 2 weeks after applying
honors college packet: 3 days after
honors scholarshipt: 1 week after that
med pgrm: 1 week after that
school of engineering scholarship: 3 days after that.

I got in! I know I've never posted in the Pitt forum before, so no one here would care, but it just feels so good to be able to say that I was accepted somewhere. Anyway, I got the honors packet like a week after my acceptance and I'm still waiting on (hopefully) a scholarship packet.

Nice to see i'm the only person rejected /sarcasm

Don't feel bad jPod...not to just say the usual conciliatory crap, but there's a place for everyone. You'll do fine in life, because you'll always be a ccer at heart...
...or is that why you won't be alright?
Anyway, good luck at the other schools...college itself is an amazing opportunity and you'll be happy wherever you are.

Oh i'm fine. UPitt was my third maybe fourth choice. I just find it funny that a school that struggles to fill its business school would reject an in stater who can pay. Life goes on.

College acceptances are very fickle; you just never know what the ad people are looking for - or the qualifications of who's reading your application...Just heard of an excellent student w/almost perfect scores/ec's, etc who had a couple of grades below a B, and his prestigious State U ranked at the top of USNWR totally rejected him... Very upsetting to instate students who applied to the same place and know the kid...Yeah, life goes on - you just can't take this stuff too personally. You know your strengths...Good luck to you, jPoD

Got my acceptance about 20 days after applying, $10,000 scholarship about a week later w/ invitation to the honors college (says i'll get more info on that soon) and chancellor's scholarship nomination. Seems as if everything comes in random order, who knows how their system works.

ACCEPTED

Why I think I was accepted/deferred:Because I'm me

Other thoughts: first decision and i'm happy but i probably won't go. My friend who has similar stats to mine got a $10,000 scholarship though, so I hope I can too.

Wow. I'd go in a second with $10,000. Nice offer.

does information about scholarships and stuff come after the admissions packet if u get anything

As previously posted, info comes randomly; however, the students who have received $ typically have high SAT/ACT scores. Students selected for the Honors College usually have at least around 1350 (m & v) and/or 31 ACT - and not everyone eligible for Honors is awarded $. The Chancellor's Scholarship nominees typically seem to have 1400 + SAT and/or at least 32 ACT. If you take a look at past posts of merit award recipients, you could probably judge for yourself your chances for $. The school does consider each applicant "holistically" - so everything else on your application is reviewed, too. Good luck to you!

apparently it's not just SAT scores. Mine are good - 1420 (or 1440 if you combine the two highest times I took them) and I didn't get into honors, and I haven't heard anything about money either. My grade pt is eh - 89.0 out of 100.0.

To get into honors you also have to be in the top 5% of your class.

Yay no ranking at my school!

If we ranked, I wouldn't have been accepted to honors.

ACCEPTED into Honors College

GPA: 3.9 UW

ACT: 31

Rank: 13/198 (NOT quite top 5%)

Classes: Not really a competitive school, but I've taken just about the most rigorous courseload my school has to offer, with a whopping 2 APs, and 7 honors, as well as two classes at a local college.

Bunch of EC's

plus (limited) volunteer work through National Honors Society and at a local convent

decent essay

good recs from French teacher and band director

This was my first choice, so I'm pretty excited =)

Congrats, therathsoutgrabe. Nice to see another Ohion going to Pitt next year.
